Am I the only one that feels the stock 1125r upper fairing setup seems too high and disconnected from the rest of the bike? To me it makes the bike seem top heavy and the flow of the bike is more of a touring bike than the "sporty" look im after. And honestly I get just as much wind protection from my 1125r as I got from my firebolt. Which is basically none... which is fine. doesnt bother me at all but the way i see it, if the fairing does not serve that function and looks bad (to me) not doing it, then why not make it look good? lol

My purposal??

This is a quick photochop done of the front fairing lowered and pulled slightly forward to match the lines of the pods. The actual mod will most likely not be as extreme due to the path of the handlebars at full tilt but its a general idea of what ill be goin for. Im not sure how this will affect airflow from a performace perspective but I'm willing to give it a shot just to see how it works out.

Relatively simple mod. The fairing stays between the 'bolts and 1125r's are similar so something along the lines of this should work great.

Good suggestion but honestly im not concerned about the wind and rain and im just looking for excuses to do this mod lol.

So hopefully this weekend ill have more time to work on this. Probably going to order a catalyst composites lower fairing and modify it to be one piece with the pods. Got some more photochops for ya!

Fimally got some time to get some stuff done. Didnt have the time to do anything major. Just playing around with an idea I had for an extra tail fairing. Planning on painting the exposed subframe black or blue like the frame. Going to be re-routing the latch keyswitch.

Was messing around with photoshop. I've decided to lower and slightly rotate the front fairing. The rotation while producing a more aggressive look should compensate for some drag created from lowering the assembly. Fairing and tail section mockup.

The picture below is an 1125R with the EBR triple tree with vortex 54mm clip ons. Everything else is stock.
Is this the look your trying to accomplish?

Yes the link worked. Not quite what I'm looking for. I have considered clip ons and the ebr triple before. The ergos of the 1125 are not quite what I'm used to.

Those are flexi glass fairings correct? Is that your bike?

Yes this is my bike and those are the flexi glass fairings. They look good for wrecking once. The flexi glass fairings hold up very well, and defiantly help protect some of the parts.

More playing around. Quick paint job on the blue tail pictured before. Weather permittng ill clear coat it tomorrow and see about getting some decals. i will be printing off a fender eliminator I designed in the next fewdays. Hopefully lol. Remeniscent of the EBR piece.

Ooook criticism time! .......... I think you should remove those grip pads on your tank. They really throw off that black and blue theme your going for. I mean ya they're black but their is suppose to be blue there hahaha. I think. If your going for looks. But if you really think you need'em, keep'em! I'm just criticizing your bike man haha kidding but nice looking R your on the right track with it. But remember. Of your worried about spending money. Don't half ass jobs because your just going to end up paying for the same mod twice so you can fix the first one and make the second one perfect and now spent double what it would of cost if you would of just spent the extra money up front and did it 110% the first time. Just make sure you know it's what you want to do. Also I like the idea of moving the head unit down a little and forward. I feel the R's look a little toury myself. But a full fairing kit does that too and with much less hassle. Oo and that last fairing kit you made on photoshop wouldn't work on the streets. It's way to low you'd have it busted off in a heart beat. Got to keep everything tight.

Thanks, and I appreciate the criticism. Personally I actually really like the grip pads for a few reasons. They keep all that heat off my knees in the summer, they're quite grippy (which is nice when you get to throwing the bike around), and I think they look pretty good personally. They really fill out that empty midsection of the bike. Without them the bike almost looks like a toy to me lol.

And I agree with you 100%, I am a FIRM believer in "if you're going to do it, do it right". Unless you do it right in the first place one way or another you'll end up paying for it in the end. All the cosmetic modifications I do to my bikes I either make myself or are modified stock parts so I can save the money for the things that really matter, performance components. I am in line to install the 1190 kit in the next year. Assuming theyre still available.

With the stock geometery I feel like the Factory Buell full fairing is only the full fairing kit that actually does a good job of making the 1125 look like a true "sportbike". John422, If I remember right you were selling a set? lol. The front end lowering/rotation only requires a small plate and no modification to install. Assuming all the wiring has the necessary slack.

And for the fairing I had drawn, it was just a rough idea. I really didnt put any thought into that except for "oh that looks good" lol. For the fairing I have a spare set of pods I will be melding with a set of race take off fairings. Havnt quite decided from what model bike I will take the fairings. Most likely will be something japanese. Just trying to find a set that semi-flows with the bike.

How usable/ adjustable are the headlights?

You have confused me [confused]

I have not modified the front of the bike yet. But in stock form, as far as I know, the headlights are not adjustable at all. Solid mounts. Stock headlight visibility is pretty good. Especially compared to xb's. I have a set of HID's Im hopefully installing them this weekend.

The headlights are one of my concerns for the lowering/rotation of the front. Night visibility may or may not be compromised. I dont know. Ill cross that bridge when i get there I suppose :p

Ya I forgot I still have those for sale. They are just on my shelf at home. Iv been really busy lately but I'm thinking I'm just going to cut them up and mount them to my CR. And o ok it must be simpler then I am thinking from when I had my 1125r I always thought the gap between the pod and front fairing was big. Also go right a head! Keep them on there haha I have some on mine too haha but I have been debating taking them off for a while now. I dont know I'm beside myself on that. And iv seen some jap plastics on an R before it looked good i dont know what they came off. But I'm sure you'll make the right choice. That sounds like a fun project.

The first picture is a photoshop. It's actually the look I'm going for except with an R. I've always had a soft spot for the Pegasus 1125r. It's like batmans guilty pleasure bike :p. That's a one off job too. Illemberger and SOC are cool but expensive.
