Keeping hitting false neutrals. anyone got a remedy? or is it just how the bike is supposed to be...

when you press the clutch lever in it shows up as nuetral, its how it was designed. When its actually in nuetral the N will be brighter

is that what you mean? or do you mean when your shifting like up from first and you pass neutral and you think your in second, but your still in like a neutral without the light? because that happens to me every once in awhile

thats a rounded dog... not sure how these trannys differ from the japs but ...if its like I think that means you could just drop in some shift forks and your problem should go away

well mine always does this. I figured its just the buell transmission. My sportster used to do this too. It does get kind of annoying. Is this not supposed to happen?

....I've never heard of this happening... [confused]

I get this when going from 1st to second, I dont think having the belt drive helps. im used to chain driven dirt bikes where you can easily shift without a clutch so ive kinda got into a bad habit of not really pulling in the clutch enough when I shift

pay closer attention to it next time your putting it in nuetral to park it

No seriously. My bike has NEVER kicked on the neutral light when I pulled in the clutch.... Ever.

i had the light turn on with the clutch in but i took in to the harley shop and got it fixed. never again has it done that.

i never get the neutral light on when it's not in neutral.

Your light should not come on unless you are in neutral. Clutch will not do this if wiring is correct.

For the original post, its likely the tranny chain tension. Dealers can tune it, or you can if you want to give it a go.

xb12mike, theses linear boxes shouldn't give a neutral unless its between 1&2. Are you sure its not just the clutch slipping? You could get slip if you still have some pressure on the lever when you are throttling, or if your plates are warn. Takes like 3 mins to adjust the clutch plates.

Phil. Sounds like you need to get your bike checked out. Im guessing this is your first bike?

yeah first bike, but ill just check the wiring myself, didnt know it wasnt supposed to do that haha

yea ive never seen that either. But the whole false neutral thing from 1st to 2nd. I get that all the time. Sometimes when i jump on it and I shift i end up high reving the bike because its not all the way in second or something.

so......... if i'm coming to a stop and i go from 3rd to 2nd to 1st instead of N, does this mean i should adjust the primary chain tension? if so got a link?
