False Neutrals !!!

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

I'm not sure how primary chain tension will fix false neutrals. I would say that the primary chain tension may effect how easy it is to shift. But a N betwenn 4 & 5 or slipping out of gear is an issue that will eventually turn into missing gears

I would check the shift shaft return spring

But I'm still a rookie on these motors...

The reason to check the chain tension is much easier to check than the shaft return spring.

Make sure that your clutch is adjusted properly. I had a rash of false neutrals when I had my clutch adjusted poorly after having the primary cable off. Start with the clutch and primary chain adjustment and report back to us on your findings.

Another question...is there any indications that the bike has been down on the shifter side of the bike? IIRC there was a thread awhile back where someone had to go in and replace some parts in the transmission after laying the bike down.

OK. LETS SUM UP THE PROBLEM...

when i down shift. coming to a red light. i want to get into N but usually end up in 1st. what where should i adjust?[confused][confused]

on my bike i can't hit neutral from second...i have to go to 1st and then upshift to neutral....just too sensitive and it jumps straight to 1st
