Hello.

Recently I had some electrical issues, I think either stator or RR went. Dealer ended up replacing, stator, RR, battery, harness, ECM. yey for warranty!

Anyway once I got it back I noticed that fan turns on after couple of minutes. It stays on after shutdown anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute. When I looked closer the small vent under the headlight piece is blowing air out.

It got pretty cold here recently, by CA standards, around 9-15C. The cluster shows 47-70F degrees. It's on the same screen as gears.

Should I be concerned? The fan used to come on during summer when it was hotter, and stayed on after, but it didn't do it every time.

Thank You.[up][confused]

Mine does the same.. The intake air temp sensor is located somewhat between the two fans, it is therefore quite exposed to egine heat blowing on it. thus the high temp indication on your cluster. It should drop to the correct ambient temp when not in traffic?
Did you notice any difference in low rev drivability after the "fan issue" accurred? I have read in here, that the IAT will send false information to the ecm, which could cause the bike to run lean(er)?

Umm I don't think it's high temps. During summer on that screen it was showing 70+. I have seen 100 during some very hot days.
Not really. From what I remember runs about the same. The CT temps is showing 170-180 (different screen).

oh, I understood it as if you were concerned about the cluster indicating a higher temp than the actual ambient temp..? My bad. Your new ecm probly just got the lastest flash wich, i believe, is programmed to let the fans run more often, and longer. I wouldnt be concerned, mine does it also.
Someone correct me if im wrong..:)

Yes that is correct. The fan should run longer the temperature is always high on air cooled engines. Since the Addition of Fans installed on Air Cooled Engines the Fans are life/Engine savers. A minute isn't long at all. Even if it's cold outside the Heads are hotter than 300/degrees. The ECM up grades are going to help with mileage and longer lasting parts all around. Your IAT-Internal Air Temperature-(depending) on your individual Modifications/air box delete ETC..or other mods. The temperature is always changing, especially when moving air is involved. That is why A Data Log ride OR Drive is important for Any Engine. This way info is stored from the run and adjustments can be made. Your Bikes will be fine.Ride safe. *Jimi

Awesome, thanks. :) Was a bit paranoid with in the aftermath of the electrical issue, and a host of issues I had on my other bike last year. :)

Umm wait. 1125cr is liquid cooled. Just like it's sportier cousin 1125r. So why is the fan running after it shutdown?

Although new mapping probably does explain it running more.

My fan/fans run, too. Hard to check when rolling, but I think it may be a slow to no speed start up for 1 fan and will incude both if operating temp is high. I also have the post engine shutdown operation of the fan and sometimes fans, once again depending on the operating temp and it times out/turns off(The colder it is, the shorter the run time). Some cars do this, nothing new if this is the case.
It's not in the maintenance manual and the Buell service writer didn't seem to be familiar with it, I didn't pursue it any farther.

The 2008 1125R I had for sale only had 3700 miles and the fan would run even on a 2-3 mile ride and would stay on after shut off always. I always thought it was defective programming or and bad switch. Then again the right side of the engine ran super hot to begin with.

Yes they do run hot that is why most newer bikes/foreign or Domestic run the fan after shutdown. Just look at the front area of the cr/or-1125 models of bikes large venting trying to get air in there due to EPA lean rules and regulations. Exhaust changes and so forth.
Xb Bikes are also in there with a longer fan run time after shut down. I would rather buy a Battery OR Fan rather than Reman an engine due to heat issues. If the switch was bad then it just would not come on at all OR run all the time sometimes running on only one speed,& sometimes blowing the [fuse] but that is rare unless the fan is about wore out.*Jimi
