My final drive belt had to be replaced because the outside edge started fraying. I got it back Yesterday and after a couple hundred miles its starting again? Does this sound familiar to anyone? I can post pics if needed.. Thanks u guys

I have seena few fray. It is possible that it is being caused by the belt guards. I am assuming it is on the outside edge. Look at the metal guard on the inside of the swing arm and at the plastic ones. Also check to make sure your tire is not pushing on it causing it to rub something. It is tight in there and doesnt take much to rough up the edge. You might also want to pull the pully cover and look to see that the pully is not marking it up the inside of the ring. Post up a picture too of the belt. Picture help out a lot.

I would like to see a pic too. My belt on my 09 bolt you can see the white cords but no fraying. Also no belt guards on mine. Perhaps pulley alignment issue?

Thanks to both of you! I will throw a picture up when i get home. I am thinking that maybe the white you can see is normal and the freying was a fluke. Ill post pic n e ways to make sure. thanks again!

As you guys can see its frayed on top but not on bottom. Is this normal? do you guys have white showing? This belt is less than 200 miles old.
Thanks again

No big deal, but I'd say it's rubbing one of your belt guards - maybe evven the lower one there in your pic.

That could almost be concidered normal wear. I dont think I have seen any of these belts with any amount of miles on them that did not have the white showing. Hell even my Road king has it. You should still check all the guards and everything just make sure that the clearances are ok, but I wouldnt loose a lot of sleep over the white showing.

Hey thanks for the insight guys..
Really appreciate it! I will pull off gaurds tonight and check status..
