Wasn't hard at all. Did mine in a couple of hours. Pretty much just bolt on and go.

How do the two compare in comfort and ride? I think the firebolt tail on the lightning looks sharp.[up]

The firebolt tail seems to be more comfortable for a passenger. Both ride nice. With the lightning tail, I feel like I sit towards the front of the bike a little more. I'll especially feel that way if I install a tail lift. One of the biggest reasons I switched to the lightning tail was for cosmetics. I do believe there are write ups with pics on this forum of people doing the lightning to firebolt tail swap. Want to make a purchase?

Haha...sorry I'm not ready. It is a swap I want to do later. My wife isn't that comfortable on the stock s seat and I like the look of the firebolt tail. Thanks for the info, that's what I needed to know. [up]

Nice, thanks RT. I think I'm sold on the idea. The more I think about it the more I want it. The fact that it's more comfortable should help at the bargaining table with my accountant

Not 100% sure but I do believe that a firebolt tail will fit any lightning.
