What are you guys running for windscreens on your firebolt? Stock, Double bubble, Sport touring (never seen that windscreen on the firebolt, But I know zero grav. makes them)

Ive got a black (dark smoke) Double Bubble Zero Grav. (I like it)

Post some pics of what you guys are sporting

i don't have a pic, but I put a touring windscreen by zero gravity on my bike for a little while. It looked ok but I put the stock windscreen back on the bike because the touring windscreen was directing airflow right into my visor. Its amazing how much the wind will tire out your neck when it's directed into your face. I could duck under it if I rode in a tuck--but that's tiring too. So I put the stock windscreen back on.

Dwix1, how tall are you? I was thinking of getting that screen myself. I'm 5'7" or 5'8" depending on the amount of alcohol I've consumed but my stock windshield hits my chest and a bit of lower chin. If I could get a screen to pass wind over my head I'd be golden.

I just put a dark smoke Double Bubble on my black over red 12r. Mostly I wanted to swap out the stock red screen because of the color. I was also getting blown around more than I liked at higher speeds. I didn't really expect too much improvement with the buffeting, but I wanted the color change anyway. I was completely surprised by the improvement at say, 80 and over. It also helped some with the annoying whistling I get with my x-11 helmet. I also like the look MUCH better. I'm waiting on delivery of some CRG bar-end mirrors, which don't look too good to me with a colored wind-screen for some reason.

Alfatango1, I'm 5'10" The touring windscreen looks nice...Even though I put the stock windscreen back on, I'm not going to totally give up on the touring one. But the thing is--the touring windscreen directs the windstream right into my face. It feels like an invisible hand pushing my head back.

Some advice would help. If I want to use the touring windscreen for long rides do i buy a tank bag to rest on so I can duck under the slip stream? or should I cut the touring screen down so the slip stream his me lower, like the neck?

Or are these bad ideas and do I just sell my touring windscreen?

sup DWix, I'de cut the tourer to spill at your neck. but you'de be guessing at the height. If I had to do that I'de have someone tape a line just above the chin, and if that didnt work recut it another inch or two lower. but I'm just guessing. I thought you had a db?

no, i ended up buying the touring screen. How do you go about cutting down a windscreen? If air flow hits me in the neck I wonder if that would only end up buffetting my helmet...maybe I'll just sell it to Alfatango1. ...or maybe I could just get used to ducking under the wind. Seems like an uncomfortable way to ride long distances, and to be honest, the stock windscreen seems to work ok.

up to you on which one to use, i used a jig saw with 20 teeth per inch, 23 tpi would better imo. good luck

Ok. and then its just a matter of shaving it down a bit and trying it out until you get it right, huh?. I'll try it. When you shaved your windscreen down did you find the amount shaved off was proportional to the amount it lowered the windblast? ie: shave an inch off and it lowers the slipstream an inch, like from hitting me in the face to my chin. something like that?

i dont know for sure, but i'de say if you lower it an inch it should hit you an inch lower, i'de sit on the bike and have someone eyeball it for me with a straight line. when i got done with mine, i held a piece of paper to the underside of the screen and traced the curve onto paper, then layed the paper onto a 2x4 and cut that line into the wood and used that as a sanding block and glue a small piece of wood to the block to keep the sanding block 90 degrees to the screen
