Wrecked a few days ago while rounding a turn, oil slicks in the road are any riders nightmare! I've lost almost all the skin on my right arm, but I'm already itching to get back on the road. The front brake lever and right foot peg snapped in half. Along with these parts being toast, the right handle bar is now somewhat bent towards the rider and the throttle tube is cracked in half. I need to find these parts, but mostly I'm wondering how to go about fixing the handle bar and throttle tube. Do I need a whole new bar and throttle cable - or could I get away with just getting a new throttle tube if the cable is fine? I was able to ride it back home from where I wrecked, all while bleeding all over my bike.

That sucks, asphalt rash is the worst. I welded a new bar out of a piece of chomoly I got from Aircraft Spruce Co. Someone else said they are on eBay now an then. Buelsterparts is another great source for parts.

the handlebar is pretty easy to fix by replacing it. There is a screw that holds the bar in place from the end closest to the triple tree. They are like $20 from the dealer too... not too expensive for a brand new one. I dont know how expensive the tube is, but it is an easy fix once you have it as well, just a couple screws holding the housing together, and you should be able to figure the rest out by looking inside to see how it is set up. I'd Call the dealer first to get a base-line price, then shop around if you feel they are unreasonable. Buellsterparts.com has some good used stuff, and americansportbike.com also has a lot of stock equipment that you can order and have shipped.

Wow that sucks! I hope your arm heals quick.

It sounds like your cable probably is fine, and the chances of that cable being damaged seems pretty slim to me since it is such a flexible item. not to mention, you rode it home, so you know it works.

I've found a lot of parts at americansportbike.com

you can also call them and ask for a specific part. they're good people.

Thanks all for the replies. Hopefully I'll be up n at it again by the end of the month - wearing gear this time around.
