I am currently out of stock guys. So sorry! I have been waiting for material for quite some time, rather frustrating! Will be back up and running ASAP!
Thanks for your patience!

Here's an update!
So I'm currently in the process of lining up a new machine shop to mill out the kits...the last one messed up a bunch of aluminum and I don't have time or money for that! I'm really hoping to have kits ready to go out by this weekend or early next week. So sorry for the wait!

Thank you for your patience!

Hey all,
I'm still waiting on an ETA from the machine shop, sorry for the long wait! They aren't getting back to me as fast as they said they would.

Anyone waiting on me, thank you for your patience!

I was reading this old thread and I start to think, great! Now i gotta think about this crap on my rides through traffic and longer trips? My question to you is if this specific primary cover problem is an imminent event or if there are instances where the cover actually doesn't break over the life of the bike?

35,000 miles on my 2009 xb12 and cover seems fine. I usually hold clutch in at stoplights, but I will also put it in neutral when it is a long wait.

well thats good to hear, bro. I certainly don't want to be thinking about if I'm babying my clutch enough in traffic. I'm sure some smart ass is gonna tell me to install the fix if I don't want it to happen and then I probably won't really like said person as much. My question is how Buell would make a part so bad that it would fail so often for so many poor bastards out there...?

The xb series had, what, 40,000 or so units produced? I don't think the cover lip issue is really a 'bad' part. Sure, it's known to have a failure and that's why there's a fix, but the failure rate has to be awfully small or we'd see a lot more complaints.
Now you want to talk about a 'bad part'? 1125 series (with far, far fewer units produced) and the stator/rotor combo.

I've got probably 40k across three xb's and never had a lip go. And i live in downtown Chicago stop and go traffic.

Of course preventative measures can't hurt if you've got the time to do it and have the spare cash for peace of mind. I thought about it, but don't have the spare change at the moment.

The mileage varies a lot! Some with very few miles and some with quite high mileage. I haven't sold anywhere near 40,000 kits and perhaps some may never fail! I repaired a sportster cover with the kit I also make for the Buells and it's cover is made of the same material, cast aluminum...probably how Buell figured why not make it the same way. The part that sucks the most about this lip failing is that it can pretty much immobilize you while in traffic. BTW, I have kits ready to go after a much longer wait than anticipated.

Curious, just how many primary repair kits have you sold? After coming back and reading this thread it seems there were quite a few having this same issue.

I've sold somewhere in the ball park of like 60 units...some sold as kits and some that I repaired for the customer. Keep in mind, this is all sales by word of mouth, I have not really pushed these as I should...really just been too busy!

I've actually done one as repair and one as preventative. If not having it bothers you in traffic, get one. If you like worries think about breaking a clutch cable in traffic too...haha!
