Flashing a Race Map to ALL Buells (08+ too)

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Guys, I have a issue I am trying to work out. I have a 09 xb12r. I upgraded to a K&N airfilter with the open airbox mod, and a set of D&D race pipes.

My issue when starting is that it was running lean, and getting super hot.

I downloaded the new ECMspy and looked around and found some fuel maps. I altered the fuel maps to apx 2% increase (1-2% increase seemed to still be lean on rides). and Lowered the fan on and off temp to help with the heat.

This worked great for a few days, then the bike started getting hot again. I am not sure why the bike is running so hot, but would like to fix that. Does anyone have a racemap I can compare with?

Any suggestions would be great!

I have a BUE2D file in .xpr format that I need help adjusting my 0-3500rpm deceleration popping. Guess the bottom two rows in the fuel map need to be richened up a little bit. Can anyone help me with that?

All I have available is ECMDROID and cant decipher the fuel map in the EEPROM Editor

I got your email but its gonna be a few days for me to help. Super busy weekend. What tps at the popping and are you thinking too rich or lean?

So now that this method is outdated AND the Tunerversity has closed down, so anyone have any more information on taking a race map from a DDFI2 ECM and copying over the values to a DDFI3 ECM?

There seems to be a gaping hole in information regarding the DDFI3 ECM and tuning.

That was the stock BUEZD file (which actually has smoother power delivery than the race ECM but has poor cooling and still suffers from pops 3000rpms amd down)

I also have the 09 EBR race BUE2D file that makes the bike scream above 4k rpms , has better cooling, but pops like crazy on overrun deceleration 3500rpms and down.

Pretty sure its too lean and needs more fuel in the bottom two TPMS positions up to the 3k range in rpms.

Any way to fix the cooling on the BUEZD?

Only via a dealer ecu flash update to your bike. They re-write the ecu and add some new lines of code in there to add a perameter for fan on/off depending on speed(as well as temp)

They want the updated cooling algorithms that factor in the speed of the bike to turn the fan on and off as well as the temp ... only the DDFI 3 bikes are capable of this as the previous gen DDFI 2 doesn't measure the bikes speed that way ...

I saw this function in the new ECMSPY, Do you have the maps / settings for the fan/speed settings? I think I may be able to do that.
