Currently have a 67 el camino that I am building. I am about half done with the body work on it. My wife wants something that the whole family can enjoy besides me. I was planning on going C5 Z06 running gear on the elky. I found a 60 Nomad Wagon and the wife is in love with it. It is a little further along with the body, but the running gear is a long ways off. It does have a LT1 with 4L60E tranny and all computers and wiring. I really love my elky and like the idea of a street fighter el camino. The wagon will most likely get bagged and go with the old school look which is ok with me, but it is hard to make a station wagon much of a fighter.[confused]

I would go with the NOMAD in a heart beat over the el Camino!! Bagged, black paint with red or black interior. If it were black with a light smoke tinted windows, though not street fighter it would look like a Hurst. Could play on that then, chrome skull shifter, maybe some subtle ghost flames, airbrushed skulls etc. a play on the dark stuff. I only like subtle and hard too see graphics, I tend to like mono-chrome solid color vehicles without stripes or loud graphics.

Ya I'm the same way and so is my so that is exactly the way we would go. I guess my main problem is I have had my el camino since 2000 and am emotionally attached. I love that thing. I have put a lot of work into it to get it to what it is now. If I go with the nomad, a lot of the work I already did to the elky will have to be done to the wagon. I am on the fence still, but my wife is trying to pull me off on the wagon side.

Well personally I HATE El Caminos so I vote for the Nomad.

Reasons also: it will be cheaper since it will be more of a cruiser and not a go fast straight line car light to light. The back will be usable for trips and or just cruisin with the family of friends. Then in the end if you decide to get rid of the Nomad it will have a higher resale than the El Camino.

Nomad would be cool, I agree with Buellerpilot, nomad over the elcamino in a heart beat. you could still make the Nomad look damn mean .

Ya, that would be way cooler, but he said he already found a 60 that he was thinking about. Plus the 55-57 are so much more expensive and harder to find!

Yeah but worth it. I say go with the '60 and just make it cool, enough work and elbow grease can make almost anything badass

Agreed xtreme. At least the 60 has the bat wings on te back. Which by the way are the coolest of the wing cars to me. I will be working with the guy sometime next week. I will let you guys know what happens

65 Nova wagon w/ a turbocharged ECOTEC (cobalt SS). :D
Just throwing ideas out there. Everybody and their brother has an LS powered hot rod. Why not step outside the box a little. The little ChevyII would be a great driver, good amount of room, good on gas and 300hp is EASILY do-able from that ECOTEC. 300hp in a 2500lb car = fun ride.

Go with the Nomad. The body lines on the 60 are cool. Bagged and sick paint job, even flat black. Plus, your wife aready likes and when she likes it, then putting more money into doing things is alot easier. The whole family can go out cruzin.

never been a big fan of station wagons, everyone and there mother has a chevelle, camaro or mustang.ive had three elkys 70,71 and a 72 all pro street.and all still had enough room in the back for a bike.

Well I went and looked at the wagon yesterday and it is a far cry from what he described. Oh well. Guess I'll keep el camino for now. Thanks for all the opinions guys. I am still going to keep looking for a trade though.

Ok guys here is what I ended up getting. A 1961 Lincoln Continental.

This thing has turned out to be one hell of a buy. It has all the chrome and trim peices, new brakes (pretty much everything related to the brake system is new), New carb & fuel pump, starter, and more stuff I find everytime I tear it further down. Hell even the motor was rebuilt with in the last 5 years. It came with the original issued Arizona title in the guys name I bought it from. Yes, your right I am the second owner of this car. I spent $40 on a coil and points and condensor and took it for a ride around the nieghborhood. The freaking air condition even works in it! I am planning on going with a old school cruiser look. I am going to paint it flat black with either a white or red top. The interior will get changed to all black. I am going to keep the original 430 in it and probably change it over to a tripower set up. It will eventually get bags and a set of nice looking 20s.
So anyways let me know what you guys think about this thing. Oh ya I ended up keeping the el camino since I only paid $1500 for the lincoln.

The main thing is you kept the Chevy.LOL If you could've gotten your hands on a 2 door (real Nomad 55-57) I would be drooling right now. Your ElCamino will be worth much more than a 1960 Wagon or that FOMOCO product in another 10 years time. Neither car fully restored will ever be worth a 2 door Nomad though. I say keep that ElCamino until you die..
