Ya i'm kind of sentimental to the el camino. As far as the lincoln goes, they just have a classic mystic about them. As far as being worht more. I wish you were right, but I recently seen a lincoln done almost exactly like I want to do mine go for over $25k. I wont have to put near as much money in the lincoln to get it worth that much as I would the el camino. Besides the el camino doesnt do car seats and kids very well. :p But the back seat in the Lincoln, well lets just say there is plenty of room to practice making more kids. LOL And yes a 2 door tri 5 nomad is the shiznit. But like most folks who dont already have one stored away in granddads barn, insuffecient funds have prevented me from getting one of those.

I love those lincolns and man what a steal of a price! Have fun, I look forward to seeing your progress.

My buddy has an all white Linc. with 22" wheels riding on air suspension.

The back suicide doors are badass!

I like this over both the Nomad or El, keep us updated on any progress for sure [up]

Ya I thought it was just too good of a deal to pass up. The guy was asking $3500 but screwed up and told me he needed rent money real bad. I told him I would have to think about it. A week later he called me and asked if I had an offer for him. I kept telling him I just wasnt sure. He said to offer anything and we would go from there. So I offered him $1500 cash and he almost snatched my arm off. A little more bickering and I could have maybe gotten it cheaper but I didn't want to push my luck. :D I will definitely keep updates posted. Right now I got in the shop and started tearing it down. The interior is pretty much stripped out and the motor is almost ready to be pulled. Then it is off to body work. I got one dent in the front fender to work and then just a bunch of blocking to get it ready for paint. I am hoping to get away with less than $6k in it total. And that includes 20s and possibly airbags and a refresh on the motor. It really doesn't need that much. So I'm thinking the flat black with the white top and red accents on the interior and under the hood or should I go with the red top. Let me know what you guys think.

I say gloss black the entire exterior and do away with the two toned/separate top color. I've always hated vinyl wrapped non-convertibles. Never made sense to have a convertible look with out a convertible. White or red and black interior. What I wanted to do is all gloss black, and go over every bit of chrome with a translucent smoke black powder coat except the very center of the grill and a couple other odds and ends. Same for the rim centers and polished lips. Feel free to take my ideas so I can vicariously live through you lol.Whatever you do, please go no less wider then 255 in front and at the very least 275 in the rear :D I've wanted to build one of these so bad for so long!

Yes I agree solid gloss black would probably look the best but in the real world my body skills are not that advanced for gloss black on a car with nothing but flat body panels. Lol. I like the old school look of the flat black and am leaning towards a flat white painted top section. May even go with the whole area between the top body line chrome. I seen a blue and white one like that that looked bad ass. I am owning towards the smoked center wheels with polished lips. I think they are sick.
For anyone interested, there is a pretty good deal on frauds list for atlanta for one of these. A guy in the town north of me has a 62 that has been sand blasted and is pretty much ready for paint and a 63 complete parts car. He is asking $7000 which is a decent deal but no where near as good as I got. :D
Anyways keep the feedback and ideas rolling. Believe it or not I have already thought of stuff to do different just from hearing what you guys got to say. Oh by the way did you guys know these things have a very early version of dual climate control with rear air and heat. This thing has two separate climate control unites for each side. Very cool but a routing nightmare. Just thought it was pretty cool that they even had a remotely similar version of a luxury we desire today way back on a 1961 vehicle.

Nomads my choice in black, red interior, chrome front and rear bumpers with crager ss mags, light graphics or none. All mentioned before, with modern creature comforts. Its gotta scoot but still be reliable.

Here are some recent pics of the lincoln tear down. I have been working a few hours each night. I should have the motor and tranny out in no time tomorrow. Then it is cleaning time and then I get to start preping for paint and going back with it. Too bad the build doesnt go as quickly as the tear down or is as cheap for that matter. :D

Hey extreme could you find out or get me pictures of the rear airbag setup. Mine has leafs under it now and I am wanting to buil a 4 link for it so I can add the airbags. The front is pretty straight forward but the rear is going to take some fabrication. Or at least I think so. Our buddy may know something for the rear that I don't. Thanks anyways for any information you can get.

Ya I think I'm going to hold off on the chop. Lol. It would be a little more involved than most chops and I am not into taking on that much right now. It would look pretty good though.
