I usually rock the old t shirts i have laying around. I just like the look of some plain t shirts with some motivational wording on them. I guess there isn't much out there that isn't full of gems and crap. Guess i will stick the ratty old shirts!

I agree though..guy with those toe shoes and a tight little cut-off...so fruity.

Kind of a dumb question
i can agree with that.

Really???? just wear an old shirt, how cool do you have to look at the gym.

But seriously when Im at the gym I make sure I let out a big grunt with every rep to let everyone know how extreme I am. [cool]

excellent point!
kinda along the lines of women who get dolled up to go 'work out'

Having been a strength & conditioning trainer, personal trainer & coach to athletes in MMA, football, hockey, rugby, lacrosse as well as Joe Public I can attest that you'll find the following 'types' in gyms.

Those who go and do the same **** day in and day out, same rep count, same exercises week after week with little to no knowledge in what they are doing, basically going thru the motions.

then there are those that go to the gym to 'work out' that is in reality an excuse for socializing, they usually spend more time chatting with thier buddies and employees of the gym then actually training.

Then the folks that have a clue, know that our bodies adapt to what we are doing to it within a few weeks and employ muscle confusion principles to keep the muscles from plateauing and really think outside of the box when it comes to health & fitness, they usually keep to themselves, do what they have to do and often leave the regular gym rats shaking thier heads wondering 'whats that all aboot'

one of the most useless things a person can do to develope thier pecs, unless your a hardcore 'bodybuilder' isolation exercises are a waste of time, (having said that I have not 'trained' arms in over 5 years nor have I done a bench press in years)
think compound joint movements, squats, deadlifts, pullups, chin ups and pushups.

Add to that guerilla training/caveman training/Crossfit etc, etc and you have the recipe for some serious success.

The members of this forum who know me in Facebook land can attest that I practice what I preach and having built a military inspired obstacle course by hand on a few acres of my property, I can assure you that you don't need a gym to live a healthy active lifestyle.

My fitness guru is a guy named Ross Enamait (Rosstraining.com)
one of his quotes is my favorite..

"We are not training for a mirror posing session. We are training for function, performance and a life time of ass kicking."

A couple of my own for my cliental are..

"Train HARD & Train SMART!"

"your first wealth is your health, invest wisely"

as for what to wear while training, whatever is comfortable for you!

lifting/working out and trainning are two completely different groups of people.i stopped lifting more than 20 years ago to save my body.my routine now consists of a shovel, sledge, breaker bar 4 tons of sand,pull-ups push-ups and sit ups.

Buddha. Train me in MMA, and write me a workout plan.

I realize training in MMA is unrealistic unless you live in MN, but would you write something up? I have done many different plans and I need something new.

^^ not really. low weight high rep supersets (primary then secondary) muscle movements with interval training is better then cardio-free range of movement training. buddha i agree with 99% of what your saying. i see the same kids in my gym day after day doing the same workout. i tried to tell them other wise but they never listen.

my old trainer use to say.."ready, set, GROW"

Like everyone said. Wear what's comfortable and focus on the workout. Get in, get it done, get out and eat.

Although I do make sure to wear long pants on back days. The bar scraping across my shins doing deadlifts were leaving them bloody and scarred. Also freaked out the wife every time I came home. :D

If you want a comfy T that gives that I know what I'm doin, look into Universal Nutrion 'Animal' t's. Their pretty cool and simple

Really? I don't think I've ever scraped my chins on dead lifts.

after trying day after day to work out in the gym i train at, and always having my workout interupted by people asking me to help or explain what im doing and y. im going to make a shirt that says im not here to socialize so let me workout and shut the f up!! :)

Here's me working out at the last gym I went to. Just wore plain and simple clothes. Low weight high reps just to keep myself lean plus we hadnt stole weights yet from a FOB stop.

Doing a little desert posing with my friend. If I only could look like this again. Gotta start working out again. Dang school takes up to much of my time.
