I am still totally commited to proceeding with this project when time allows. since my original posts on this thread, have had so much on my plate - little enough time to perform the occational relatively simple, less time consuming mods to my own XB, much less persue this. As far as I'm concerned, it will happen, in due course.

Hey I completely understand. If I can be a test dummy in the future let me know, I'm in Orlando.

Vtech, as you're designing, keep us chain conversion guys in mind. The tensioners for the chain conversions don't come with a spring. At least mine does not have the spring.

Looking forward to seeing the outcome of this project! [up]

That is a good suggestion, to make a version to accept the sprocket for those with the chain conversion [up]

...your rep votes encourage me - keep 'em comin'.... [up]

So... nothing happend yet?[sad]

Well I was thinking of a FS tensioner, but now I'm going to hold out and see what other people come up with.

I sent Vtech a broken one and a used one back in February so he could examine them and take measurements. Guess he has been busy with family issues , but still intends to make something when time permits.

My friend in his studio custom made tensioner, tested it for a year, works like a Swiss watch.

mmcn49,works perfectly. Tested during 2013, nor any narikany. Or are you interested in the technical part?

I am looking into this as of yesterday. I had a sit-down with my machinist guy and we discussed design options. After that, I spoke with an engineer about it and will be hopefully getting some cad drawing feedback soon. I also have a dedicated AutoCAD guy that will be getting the basic stuff set up for me this weekend I think. From what I can gather, it will definitely lower in cost than the free spirits part and I will most likely go with stainless steel for material.
