Freezing Problem

I park my Lightning outside but keep it covered and last night it got down to say...17 degrees. So when I went out to start the beast this morn the clutch needed a little motivation and my throttle was stuck fast. In fact, I checked it progressively throughout the day with no change. Last year my Blast did the same thing when it got down to the teens. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks.

The lubricant they used to lube your cables is freezing. Try using a cable lube made for sub zero temps to help fix it.

Thanks. Anything I can do for now to unfreeze it? I mean, I thought about making the cat sleep on the handlebar but she's not too thrilled about that.

If the temps dont rise enough it wont un freeze by itself. Can you find a way to get it inside for a few hours?

Not without breaking the law. :D Nope. Thanks though Mr. Dozer.

It actually got up to 28 or so today and it did thaw out but the temperature is supposed to dive like Hillary's popularity in the poles again tonight. So, I strategically placed several hand warmers secured with soccer socks (duct tape leaves residue) and I'll let you know if the MacGyverism works. Girl Powah!

A friend and riding buddy suggested a hair dryer and a really long extension cord as well but I don't own either. Heh.

How about lock de-icer or lubricant,it will melt the ice and displace the moisture?

It's not visible ice and we haven't had real precipitation in a while, I like the heater idea but I'm a girl and all I'd probably end up doing is setting my cover aflame.

The first night my hand warmers were a bust but the last night I wrapped the assembly differently and that seemed to work. I went in to the dealer today and told them the problem and they looked at me like I had balls growing out of my forehead. I've found that to be the case between the two HD dealers/service departments that I've bought Buells from though but I'm very happy with my latest dealer.

Anyway, they blew out and lubed the throttle and idle cables (clutch too) and we'll see tomorrow if that did it. Yay.

Thanks so much guys for your input...hopefully the saga will end here.:D
