I just put new front brake pad, and it was fine.

yesterday I cleaned rotor without remove rotor. just cleaned with brake cleaner and towl.

today, I ran, when i use front brake, it make metal sound around front pad. I reinstalled pads, still same.

Evey bolt are right torqued.

I checked pads. When i put in into caliper, it move back and forth little bit. Not left and right (space), so pads hit the caliper when i brake.

Is it normal? or should i change the pin ? pin looks fine... but moving pad is normal?

(i didnt check head bearing cap nut yet.. maybe soon..)

I had this issue, it eventually caused a shutter when braking. I replaced my pads problem gone. From what i saw it was the pads backing moving or rocking when brakes were applied. Makes click when you roll forward then back hitting the brakes?

For what it's worth this is normal, it is the rotor hitting the shims that bolt the rotor to the wheel. It is floating, not fixed.

I'm not sure on the OP's problem though, didn't really understand what he was describing...

i didn't change the rotor yet... expensive haha. it did't make sound so far. After i cleaned rotor, it make that sound :([confused][mad]

I'm not doubting that a brand new set of shims in the rotor would have less to not noticeable noise, but the click is not a problem if it is the rotor and shims was my point.

Wasnt contradicting you :D agreeing to an extent with some input of my own experience how i solved a similar issue that became dangerous.

Listen to snrusnak hes been at this longer than me.

BTW crash did you use the updated EBR hardware kit, or the old style with the springs? Wondering if it makes a difference...

Running the springs. I also have the older version of EBRs front race rotor 6mm. Bought it year and some ago cause my stock one was warped when i bought the bike. They've since updated everything brake wise through EBR. Ive since gone out to the bike, rolled it back and forth, i have the slightest tick noise from the pads. A small pocket screw driver putting tension on the pads, no click or noise at all.

Thanks for the info, I'm about to order the hardware and think I'm going to get the new stuff. Sorry to get off topic from the OP's question.

it's ok. I'm learning a lot !

:D

It means you just put small driver between pad and rotor, make more space between them?

No, i stuck it where the pad backing meets the caliper on the edge. Hard to describe where let me get you a picture in the AM

I think that's my problem. I wanna know how did u stuck it. Mine have little space between pad and caliper backward and forward. I will check tomorrow AM ! Thanks a lot

I'm not sure that the pads should have some free movement in between the rotor and caliper piston. They "drag" ever so slightly on the rotor, they should be fairly snug in there.

This is what i was referring to. And yeah the pads should be dragging against the rotor.

Thanks for the pic!

you mean you pulled the pads toward to the rotor?:D

I can't see which direction? I will try what u did

I didnt pull or push. Simply put the screw driver there to take up space. The pads rock on the pin forward and backwards. So the screw drivers stops that movement so you can check you rotor bushings.

I think i know what you mean. My pads fit the same way. The only time i get some clicking noise is when it rains or if i wash it. The pads will click back and forth for a few corners. or always in the rain. I live with it. My EBC race pads fit more snugly and don't do this.
It could be that the pads were manufactured that way. In the auto world, Chryslers are bad for that same problem and come with 'shims" to shim the pads in ten thou increments. Nothing to worry about. hope this helps.

thank you.

Would you check that is it right re torque stem head bearing?

1) jack the front wheel
2) loose upper clamp bolt 3 bolts
3) loose chrome cap nut. 1bolt
4) loose lower clamp bolt 4bolt
5) re torque 38-42 cap nut

at this point, front fork goes down because front wheel is lifted. should i take down the jack ??

and tight everything back with right torque?
