Here is something I recently found and I figured I would pass it along. It’s a cheap and easy way to turn your Firebolt front seat into a quick release.

Go to your local hardware store and for about 3-5 dollars pickup a set of Cotter-less Lock Pins 1/4" x 3/4" as shown in picture. Using a 1/4" drill bit and some lubricant drill out the brass threads were the bolts once threaded. Re-install the seat and press the cotter-less lock pins into place. They work great!

not to be a smart a$$ but did you do this because the stock threads were stripped or because you got tired of removing the bolts to take the seat off? I'm tired of removing the bolts [confused] it seams like no matter what you want to do to the bike you always have to start by removing the seat and then go from there. great tip though, I like the idea[up] does the seat still lock down secure or does it have a little "wobble" to it?

I have this on my bike but it is a stud threaded into the rear sub frame the same as the bolt but allows me to snap the seat on and off. Oh but I have the S tail now so I guess I don't really have it on my bike.

None the less it is a he'll of a lot better than screwing and unscrewing the bolts to the seat.

I just orderd mine. I think $20 + 10 for shipping was way to high, but the convenience and the fact that i dont have to practly ripe my seat just to unscrew it is worth the extra flow. It was such a pain in the ass. Thanks again for this post.

Hell just buy a couple long bolts and cut the head off them, round off the tip with a grinder and you would be set.

I still have mine but dont plan on selling them.

cut threaded rod to correct length, install acorn (cap) nut, drill hole & install then get the pin & your set
