front wheel shacking!

shit, i have an SCG, so this settings are not good for my bike???
i need the right settings for the SCG, please somebody help me!!!!!!
BTW, today i was riding with my girlfriend on the back and i didn't have any headshaking, so the problem is definately on the suspencions setting...

Madbuell, I'm glad you have seen that you must adjust the suspension!

I WAS ALSO TOLD that these settings are for all XB9/12s models.. That was from the HD Shop.. If it's not for the CG model then I should go rip the shop a new ass..

your owners manual shows settings for different rider weights, and shows that the S and the Scg have different settings. The best page I've found for suspension settings is this one

Still, different riding styles will require different settings. Use whatever suggestions you can find to get close, then experiment, one setting at a time. I'll tell you this though, Beth's front end was shaking under acceleration coming out of high speed corners. The trick for hers was a very slight decrease in front end preload and a very slight increase in damping.

i will go and speak with a suspension tachnician, is the best thing to do to not mess up with the bike and make it worse...

Ok, you got nasty headshake. Have you balanced your wheels?. Balancing can make a massive difference in handling. Check it out before you waste your $$ on other stuff. It's a cheap fix and makes a huge difference in handling when you have your wheels balanced to an appropriate level.

P = Preload, C = Compression, R = Rebound

Your user's manual will show how to adjust for each of these on your shocks. If you don't have one the Buell.com site has viewable owner's manuals or there's a Buell Service Manuals link at the top of this page downloadable for free.

If you still have that headshake...besides the suspension settings, it could also be your brake pads. I know this may sound strange, but the previous owner of my bike mentioned the same sort of shake. The suspension was set up for him and he tried rebalancing the front wheel but it still did not help. In discussing this problem, someone had mentioned brake pads. He switched from the stock pads to Lindell Gold pads and it instantly cured the shake. I am not really sure how this would/could affect the shake, I just thought I would share what I was told.

I posted to help out ridendude. Madbueull's headshake problem has been resolved hopefully - this thread is from 2007.

i have also heard the "insulator" (part # L0501-.02A8C) can break down... its rubber & can crack & dry out... causing headshake... anyone got 2cents?

(its in the bracket that mounts to the front of the engine, under the handlebars)
