my 2008 firebolt XB12r is blowing the fuse for the cooling fan every time it turns on and in turn making the check engine light illuminate.can anybody tell me a easy way to check the fan to see if its bad,or any advice would be helpful ,thanks.

Simple stuff first: check for road debris (like tree leaves) that entered via left scoop and 'nested' at fan.

the fan is free of debris and turns freely.im almost certain its a bad fan motor,i just need to know of a way to test the fan

Mine was having the same problem too. Uh, then my valve spring broke, dropped the valve, broke the valve seat, and bent the push rod.... FIX YOUR FAN IN A HURRY :D HA HA

unplug the fan actuate it with ecm spy if you have it .
or hook a test light to it and warm it up see if it runs the cool down if test light comes on and doesn't pop the fuse it is a fan.
i would pull your air box and see where the oil is maybe a loose breather hose

had the same problem w/ my 08 scg.went back to the dealer twice, second time for 10 days,hd tech support team was called, extensive testing done, which only concluded fan was the promlem just like the first time. The fan is still capable of running but draws too many amps. They guess the heat damages the bearing. Its my intention to purchase a spare, while they still exist.

thanks for the info buell addicted.i think i will buy two fans instead of one if this is going to be a reoccuring problem.thanks again
