Thanks for the note, RPBUELL. I got that, too. However, it is confusing because there are lots of other quotes out there from military reps saying that although there is VA funding for compensation checks for now, it may run out in a few weeks and leave vet without checks in November. I'm assuming compensation checks are included in that DFAS message you got. Do a Google search on 'veteran compensation shutdown'. You'll see the mixed signals I'm talking about.

I have a feeling that if it came to the point where veteran benefits were in grave danger of not being paid, someone in D.C. will push through an emergency bill to make sure vets continue to receive them. Neither party wants the scourge and stigma of cutting off vets, especially when we have still have troops deployed to hot zones.

when i contacted my senators this what i was told:
mark kirk- you will not recive
dick durbin- you will recive

so its hard to say when senators cant agree on va payments. then again durbin in on the armed forces commite

I would believe Durbin as he is in fact the Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee which includes funding the VA.

well it looks like i was wrong. the general(retired) shinski, i know i spelled it wrong, who is head of the va has said if the government opens back up in the later part of this month va comp, disability, survior benefits will not be paid out. this is what he told congress.

I am a Chevy man so this is what I have to say
FORD may be build without your tax dollars, but what good are your tax dollars if your govt. is willing to shut itself down.
I wont be able to pay my bills without my VA disability and keep a roof over my wife and kids head. I bet no one takes up an offering for something like that on the website that takes donations for people done wrong. Me and alot of other veterans will hurt for men that cant agree on anything!
