Thanks for the note, RPBUELL. I got that, too. However, it is confusing because there are lots of other quotes out there from military reps saying that although there is VA funding for compensation checks for now, it may run out in a few weeks and leave vet without checks in November. I'm assuming compensation checks are included in that DFAS message you got. Do a Google search on 'veteran compensation shutdown'. You'll see the mixed signals I'm talking about.
I have a feeling that if it came to the point where veteran benefits were in grave danger of not being paid, someone in D.C. will push through an emergency bill to make sure vets continue to receive them. Neither party wants the scourge and stigma of cutting off vets, especially when we have still have troops deployed to hot zones.
