So I figured out how to install GPS tracking on the cheap.
1. Purchase a GPS Tracking Device. They run under $40.
2. Install GPS Tracker on motorcycle. It runs on battery or can be hardwired. Sorry no pics for privacy reasons.
3. Buy a SIM card from AT&T or PTel pay as you go plans. Activate with $10 and insert into GPS Tracker.
4. You can text the GPS to get location or you can track it on the internet for free.
5. Setup an account at GPS Trace.
6. Follow the instructions here to tell the GPS to send updates to the GPS Trace server. I set mine to ping every 30 seconds when moving.
Several things of interest. The website defaults to Russia so you need to change the language to default to English. The telephone number for America is 1+then the number. The Unique ID is the IMEI.
So total cost is $40 for the tracker and around $5-10 a month depending on how much data you use for your plan. This is by far the cheapest setup I could find. Also my insurance gives me a discount for GPS tracking.
