Lol that brings up my next subject, how about when people come to the top of a hill and press the brakes to make them feel safer, then hold the brakes all the way down the hill then they come up to another hill and the process repeats. I could go on all day about drivers.

How about when there is a merge lane to MERGE in and the person doesnt even make the attempt, they just sit there until there isnt a car in sight.

[up]

Since this is a thread about poor driving I think I'll share a story, I found it pretty amusing...

I was at my freind's place (gated apartment). We went to go somewhere and were second in line at the gate to leave. The lady in front of us wouldn't pull any closer to the gate(so it would open). So we honked a couple times(really wasn't being rude just trying to get her to go) and she couldn't figure it out. So she tries to turn around, took her like 5 minutes, she made like a 12 point turn lol. Then as soon as she's out of the way we pull up, the gate opens, and she makes another 12 point, 5 minute u turn and then does the exact same thing and can't figure out why the gate won't open for her haha.

Some people just shouldn't be in a driver's seat period. I'd be terrified to be on I4 with her lol.

I personally believe that people over the age of 65 should get a yearly road test and different license plates, like DUI drivers do. Here in Ohio DUI drivers get bright yellow plate.

Now I know there are some older members here, I wonder what they'd think about this idea.

I actually had to save an accident a few times the other night on my bike. I was riding behind two cars. Right lane old female. Left lane old male. Racing in a 40mph zone doing 30mph. The old man saw me behind him and started drifting into the other lane towards the other car so i start laying on the horn. So before hitting the lady that had no idea he was there he drifts back into his lane. Needless to say he did it about 30 seconds later and I had to lay on the horn again. Neither of them knew what was going on and if they would have ran into one another I would have surely been in an accident. I feel like most of the time I have to look out for other drivers mistakes in order to save myself.

Moral of the story. Cagers are scary. Especially old ones.

I like to refer to those as turtle races.
18 wheelers take first prize in this sport. I just love watching them from the front row for the next 2-5 miles before the passer gets back in at a 1/2 mile per hour fasterthan his opponent.

[up] to the patrolman....love it.
My dad was a police officer. Rode with him a few times and it never failed that once he had a motorist in front they'd get all squirrelly thinking they might get pulled over and end up slowing down driving excruciatingly overly cautious.

As far as age is concerned.....well....
Raise the age to 21. Those who want it sooner take a much more rigorous test on road and paper. I've seen as many or more dangerous acts of driving from the youngest of drivers than I have of the elderly.....both have the pontential for causing accidents......"it takes all kinds" (of dumb) and in the realm of driving on public roads there is just that......all kinds

Raise the age to 21

Hey now I'm 20 and I take offense to that lol. I'm a far safer driver and far more conservative rider than many people older than me. But I've been riding since I first got my driver's license so I've got more riding experience than a lot of older people who are new to the motorcycle thing. Regardless I agree that the age should be raised to at least 18 everywhere or maybe even 20.

Driving on roads in the US was so aggravating after living in Germany for three years. Those people take driving seriously. It's a much more challenging process just to get your license. We used to joke that the Germans had microchips implanted in their heads because most seemed to abide by the laws/rules and they would chew you out if you didn't. I miss how well things work in Germany.

It's like that every day here. Most of the roads here are two lanes and NO ONE has the mindset that the left lane should traveling faster- totally different than NY. Invariably it's a "turtle race" and to go a normal speed you have to zig-zag through the idiots. Meanwhile, these are the same people that routinely get their Accords and Camrys up to 100 on the freeway. I've been in this part of So Cal for five years now and this still tests my patience to the limit every time.
