Harley XR1200

I test rode one. I thought it was nice, but just wasn't what I wanted. I could hear the intake sucking air, and the clutch lever didn't work with the way I hold the grip. The XR motor is 90 hp, I wonder why HD didn't use the XB motor and suspension in it.

I like the way it looks though, and may buy one someday.

I rode one at sturgis last year and hated it. It seems like the gear ratio is way off from my nightster I can do over 50 in 1st and the xr didn't go much over 45. And my nightster w/ a cam and race tuner smokes it

I think the xr is going to spawn a bunch of morons that don't know any better talking about how fast their Harleys are. Which reminds of a time one of my dads friends came over on his harley and told me that there wasn't a bike on the road anywhere near as fast as his.

I got the opportunity to ride an XR1200 just after it came out. I am about 5'8" and felt like i should be wearing a cup to ride the damn thing... No fun whatsoever I took it around the block and never wanted to get on another one ever again.

Well I do like sportsters. they just are to cramp for me. My old sporty has more room. and I love the look of the old peanut tank.

id rather be seen on a vespa
agreed, way cooler and handles better [up]

plus my biased opinion of H-D is this..
would not buy one, if one were given too me I would sell it without ever sitting in the saddle..

same goes for H-D paraphenalia, kinda reminds me of *********s wearing all types of MMA brands thinking they are cool or fighters without ever stepping up and proving it..
posers [down]

i do like cruisers, but now id have to say i might not buy a HD. I would certainly build one with a S&S 124" (2032cc) engine and a frame from jp cycles or something.

Being the owner of 2 sportsters, before the buell,I have to agree with almost everything said already.Im a gryo gearloose type that likes to improve the performance .I dont get it how every time they improve the performance they add weight to cancel it.You have to also understand that the demensions of most sport bikes dont work from a practical comuting stand point, but that doesnt really mater because there is this alloy called aluminum that I guess HD hasnt heard of.Between the early 90s and 03, sportsters weighed aprox. 505 lbs.In 04,they upgraded the heads and cranks to buell specs, but added 76 lbs to the frame w/ the rubber mounting crap. Its seems there too insecure to commit to performance without adding some cruzing gimic w/ the intent to please a market not enterested in performance.
