Yeah I love this episode. Yesterday one of them was splitting lanes and smacked into my side view mirror of my van. I'm sure he did more damage to his pretty chrome mirror than to my black plastic one.

I've always wanted to open the door up if I was stopped in traffic and they wanted to whiz right by like that, of course I wouldn't do it but still if it was a squid.... maybe!

He was going less than 5 mph but his fat ole bike was too wide. He could have waited like 20 seconds since he only beat 3 cars to the off ramp.

kyle_dewald...lane splitting is perfectly legal in California and other states. Yes, there are limits...only 5 MPH faster than car you are passing and only up to 30 MPH.

Plus, let me be the first one to warn you to never give in to your urges about opening your door. A lot more damage to your well being and wallet would be in short order. Plus that is way more of a lame mentality than any squid could ever be.

I am reposting this here so kyle_dewald doesn't miss it:

kyle_dewald...this is your second post in one day, hoping someone either wrecks or even you yourself cause the wreck(opening your door on a lane splitter).

Are you even a motorcycle rider at all? If you actually are, maybe you should take a few days off and deal with whatever in your life is pissing you off, getting the best of you and making you mad at the world. My highest recommendation...stay off your bike until you fix your attitude, before you kill yourself or even worse, someone else.

Kevin

P.S. Please let us real riders know where you live, so we can stay away from that area.

Kyle, Just for the record...squid is not just a wardrobe. It is an attitude.

Hope you heal up from your injuries. Also I hope someday you recover from being a squid.

Kevin

it is really easy kyle, you wrote it, we read it. that is how we dare.

think about things before you throw them out there.

Thanks Kevin, I know I'm young and can do some stupid things sometimes, but riding and putting peoples lives at risk is not one of those things. I don't have chicken strips on my tires but that is because I do it on the track.

Since we cannot hear what you are saying you need to clarify your intent with emoticons or "j/k's" and crap like that. Otherwise misunderstandings will happen again and again.

Yea, I realize that now. You guys would go ape **** over the people I work with. We say crazy **** all the time and we don't always finish up with a j/k or anything, its just understood and that flows over into this. Lesson learned and duely noted

Kyle...why are you bringing up chicken strips? Again, at least in my book and where we are from. Being a squid has far more to do with attitude than it does wardrobe or scrubbed in tires. People change clothes daily...attitudes are for life until you learn to change them.

On another note, I want to appologize to everyone who felt that I would actually be stupid enough to do that. Never in my life would I put someone elses life in danger like that no matter what, squid or not.

Hmm... well I can imagine you can see where one would become confused.

upthemaiden, I appologized because someone thinks I'm a young pompous ******* you would actuall do it, which led into other people believing him, and it being taken way too far.

haha, I wasn't accusing you, just saying that when you say you'd like to hit someone with your car door, people will assume you want to hit people with your car door. Most people will know you're kidding, but sadly enough people actually do it, and you sounded pretty vindictive, so who's to know.

Just trying to lighten the mood.

oh, really, I didn't think people actually did that or atleast I've never seen it or heard it. That's pretty crazy and messed up, but I do have a friend that was almost hit on his bike by a guy that ran a red light, so he followed him to some store, got off his bike, opened the guys door, grabbed the guys cell phone (inwhich he was still talking on) and slammed it down on the ground. He turned, walked away, and drove off on his bike.

I'm a lover not a fighter, haha. I have kicked a few doors of cars that were about to sandwhich me inbetween another car, but I'm not a violent person, and sure as **** not a serious one. I can be serious but 99% of the time I'm not.

I live in the city so my transportation is 98% done by bicycle, and car doors are a pretty common problem. I've had a couple friends get hit with them, not by malicious drivers stuck in traffic, just by ignorant people who swing their door open right into the bike lane without looking. I personally have definitely come up to cars and seen people open their door just slightly, as if they pulled the lever and unlatched their door, but didn't actually push it open. They've could've been waiting to hit me, they could've been waiting nicely for me to pass so they could spit, who knows but I wasn't waiting to find out so I always cut behind their car and pass them on the other side. People who drive cars tend to get pretty stressed out and angry, and will do some pretty surprising things to someone who isn't having as hard of a time as they are.

haha... I was riding with a friend, some ****** in her car on her phone almost changed lanes right into us. my buddy went to tap her window so we could flip her off as she looked at us, but instead, he hit her mirror and knocked it off. we hoofed it at about 120 down the highway incase she called the cops. purely an accident, but funny.

agfish, that's pretty funny, oh well more than he expected to do but still I'm sure it served the purpose and maybe woke her up some.
