Head Temp Sensor Diagnosis

Alright, a little background, my CEL light would come on, say for 3-4 minutes then go off, and come back on. I first thought it was the fan, cause I noticed when I parked it, the fan wasnt running like it usually does. This is an 06 btw. So I finally got the fan out, and it runs when plugged up into a 12v source, and I am getting power to it. So this narrows down to the head temp sensor.

before I buy another one, does anyone know how to test it to see if it is truly bad? Thanks.
