So on my last ride of the season last fall it was about 30 degrees and my hands were frozen so I took my right hand and tryed to warm up my right glove while riding and ended up hitting my header pipes with my glove and leaving a big black nasty stain on my pipe.

Hmmmm how the hell do i get the stain off with out scratching the pipe all to hell

thanks, Matt

Never had that prob but maybe denatured alchol and a rag I am not sure how bad it is on there. If that dosent work and you have access to a rubber wheel maybe try that. Last resort some sand paper should take it right off i would guess maybe 12 to 1600.

wd-40 and a scotch pad does wonders. I know from experience :) backpack style
EDIT
Dave stop posting the same time as everyone lol

Yeah I've done it before. I made it look like nothing was ever on the header. Plus it took about 15 seconds. [up]

So if your pipes were scrathed, how would you guys suggest get the color back to normal?

Easy Off oven cleaner works really good on chrome pipes I imagine it would work on the Buells just as good.

sand it with a scotch brite pad, then ride it and the heat will change the color back to golden/blue/purple etc depending on how hot your engine runs.

Yeah thanks for the ideas. after i can finally see my bike again i will have to try it out

Thanks again.
Matt
