I have an XB9R that I just bought used and the headlights and running lights are out? The highbeam works, taillight brake light works, markers work when activated. . . I have checked fuses, relays, checked for loose connections and found nothing wrong. Everything else works fine. Any ideas?

Check the bulbs. sometimes it's the simplest things. Replace the brake light bulb for sure., mine did the same.

i had a problem with my lights and it ended up just being a wiring connection loose be sure to go over the connections again.

The taillight and side markers all work correctly. I ordered a new headlight bulb, should I order the tail light as well, even though it works?

i wouldn't order it if it works. did you chech the headlight bulbs with a voltage meter to make sure the continuity of the bulbs is bad. when you say running lights do you mean the the lights in the speedo as well?

Running lights meaning: side markers, headlight, taillight (without depressing brake pedal).

Instrument cluster lights work correctly.

Check your headlight connector & pins inside it to make sure they're making good contact:

How did you get to this connector? I removed the front cowl on my XB9R, but the connectors are really buried up there. Did you remove the gauge cluster or headlights?

- That's a pic of a Lightning.

- You can find the procedure in the Firebolt Service manual. Grab one via the link at the top of this page. Good step-by-steps and diagrams.

Update: I removed the headlight assembly and found corrosion on the bulb casing that grounds to the small metal plate it sits in. I cleaned and now headlight works. Checked white harness and wires are intact and no corrosion. I now have a headlight but no running lights ( side markers or rear markers and taillight) for night time riding? Any more ideas?
