the thought crossed through my head on swapping out the factory headlamps to a single 10" wide LED light bar,.. or maybe even a second for high beam...

Are those street legal?
And do you have an xbr, s, x, tt or what?
If you have an r there is a lot of work involved in swapping out the wire harness to an s harness in order to simplify the swap and make things look as clean as possible.
If you have any of the other models it's just a question of fitment and finish.
Or you could just hack a rectangular hole in the front of a perfectly good fairing and mount said light bar.
That's if you own an xbr

and do they project enough light to see the road? good for being seen though for sure!

Yes, they give out plenty of light, but Don't do it! I had the same idea, and instantly regretted spending the money on them.
