So started to notice my headlights go dim then bright dim and bright irregularly. Is this a sign of a regulator going out or other?

well the same thing was happening to me. i would be going down the road at night and my low beam would get dim and when i flipped on the hi beam it would be only as bright as my low beam. then it would be fine and it started to get worse. turns out the plug that the regulator uses(down wrapped around the pulley) was having bad connections almost like it started to melt. i cleaned it up and tighten the pins up and uses some dialectic grease and put it back together and has been fine ever since. i was was having charging issues with my bike to where my battery was dieing and not getting a charger. try putting just a volt meter on your bike while running and see what its charging at. also there was a recall well a pin upgrade on the earlier bikes i want to say like 03-05 or early 06. call al and American sport bike, he knows about the plug update.
hope that helps

Awesome gives me something to check when i get home. Also ill stop by american sport bike see what they have to say or offer, nice having them in my hometown ive frequented often for advice

Had the same prob plus batt not charging. I just got rid of the plug and hard wired it. Running great.
