I created a heat blanket for the underside of my airbox by using a cardboard template, and then transfering it onto some heat shield material I picked up from Home Depot. (Yes I do alot of shopping there) I have noticed a huge difference in the heat reduction of the air box. As for HP #s, I couldnt tell you, but cooler air=better mixture. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I can post some pics and detailed instructions. I still say we need a How to Forum added on here.

Nice mod. I'll add the forum right away. If you email me images with descriptions I will add a link to a section for custom mods and DIY Buell stuff. [up]

Matchbox, this doesn't keep you warm, it keeps the incomming air cooler. Sorry have not had the time to post pics as of yet!

azsnow .. what is this wonderful material you speak of?

pics of the mod!!!??

i was looking at heat barrier material from jegs.

Hook me up!! I'm interested as well. I was thinking about doing something like that after I found out that I will probably never get a F.A.S.T. kit in the states. I just didn't know what heat resistant material to use. Let's see those pics Homeboy!:D

How well did this get rid of the heat that comes up from under the seat between the rider and the passenger? My g/f crotch and my back get pretty warm cruising down the highway. I have been looking for some way to get rid of that heat there and cool air in the airbox would be great too.

What part of home depot did you find the heat shield? I'll guess it was in the aisle with the furnace stuff? I'll have to take a look tomorrow. If it's thin it could also be useful under the front of my seat. It gets pretty warm as well.
