i wrecked my bike last Thursday and i want to turn it into insurance cause the frame is dented and i know they will probably total it . . . i believe the cause of my wreck was something in the forks malfunctioned ( head bearings may have gone out- which are not a regular maintenance item) and caused the wobble that it turn caused my crash . . . is there any way i can get out of this going on my record as a wreck??? can i take it to a shop and get a diagnosis then show the insurance company that it wasn't my fault?

thanks for the help guys

I'd answer if I knew. Might have a buddy call them and ask what their policy is for wrecks, at-faults, etc. Might look suspicious if you called yourself.

I wouldn't worry about having a friend call. If you don't want to report it, you don't have to. Just tell them it was really minor and it's less than your deductible anyway

When a hit the pot hole it was reported as a “no at fault accident” and did not affect my premiums. I have Progressive as well.

I recently took a spill on my bike. and the frame took a dent. i had to rip the frame puck off to look underneath to see the dent. and btw. the frame pucks are just filled with styrofoam. they really only will protect the bike if it falls over from a standstill, not a moving spill. anyways, i claimed it on my insurance, and they are replacing my frame for me. they are not considering it a total loss. so shes in the stealership getting a new frame this winter.

also i know for my state...MA, to stop points from being placed on your insurance record, you have to fill out an appeal form for an accident. that is i will have a court date to state i am not at fault as the road conditions were poor and i hit debris. this will stop any points going on to my insurance and any increase in my premium.

hope that helps.

Anytime you have a reported accident with a payout, Your rating will be adjusted accordingly. Your fault, their fault, act of God..... It does not matter. This is from my 32 years of experience, running my own company, owning and operating 30+ motor vehicles and all the fun that comes with being the "Boss".

I have been in 2 wrecks (1 on the bike and 1in my car) that were no fault accident wrecks and my INS did not change (both with Progressive). I went down at 65 and my frame did not dent pucks were road rashed but no dent. Mine must be better as they did not seem to have foam in them. Good luck man.

P.S. Progressive told me if it had dented the frame it would have totaled the bike. But then again the totaled mine do to coast of parts. I bought it back.
