help me understand the cooling fan on my Uly

Howdy, just aquired a very clean '06 Uly, it would appear the only time the cooling fan runs is after a ride, when the key is off. Does it only operate with the key off? is it supposed to cycle during riding if needed?

Welcome skybolt[up] your fan will only run when you are riding if your motor needs it( if it gets really hot). it will run for a few min. after you turn it off to cool the rear cylinder (no air flow when stopped). your fan operation is normal.

what joel said. i have a 2007 uly that's all stock except for hawk muffler and has 4000 miles on it. i added the optional right side scoop which made a noticeable improvement in shedding heat when riding and in aiding rear cylinder cooling. my fan has only ever come on 1 time and that was after a short ride thru town on a 95 degree day. ran for about 2 minutes at 2 speeds when i shut off bike. other than that it never comes on. hope that helps.
