Just got a XB9S. Never thought I'd own a Buell in my life. The first time I saw one was in an advert in an old (and I mean OLD) motorcycle magazine that my uncle had. Ever since that time I've always viewed them as a kind of novelty bike. So fast-forward to today....descent job, stable financial situation, time, older and presumably wiser with supportive riding buddies. I craglisted a few prospective bikes (including a Ducati Monster) and fell in love with the XB9S immediately after the test ride. Not to mention that the owner had taken VERY good care of it....he was sad letting it go which made me want it that much more. Anyway, I can say that for the past several days I've done nothing at work but peruse this great forum, and I've finally joined. Thanks for taking in another Buell nube. I've some experience riding (junior motocross when I was young and rode a Kawasaki ZX9R for the longest), but haven't owned a bike since I came to the US (I'm from Kenya BTW) 10+ years ago. I've ridden a few but owning one has me very impatient waiting for the next time the weather improves so that I can spend some time with my baby. For now I'll just be contented in staring at her in the garage.

Cheers.

looks like its pretty well taken care of! You'll love the buell, its so different in a great way!!! Its so much fun to mod and change as well!!! what area of the country are you in, I'm sure other buellers would love to go riding with you if any are local!

Welcome! The guys on here are always a big help with goofy little issues and questions. [up]

Thanks people. And don't worry, the questions I'm sure will come very soon. Just ordered some pezzo short levers so that will be my first mod on this baby. Thinking about LED lighting at the moment. I'll keep ya'll posted. Thanks again.

@iman501: I'm in Kansas City, Missouri.

Chop the tail off that thing :D

Good looking bike! Welcome to the forum! Quite a journey you've had all the way from Kenya!

That is a SL model which means Low. It is a little over an inch lower than the standard height models.

@netty2424: The tail shall be chopped in due time :) .Yah sure is a looong way from Kenya. I miss riding all year round on Africa Twins, but every year I get a chance to go back and indulge my guilty pleasures.

@oh9bolt: Thanks for the clarification. Thought it was strange how low it felt, but then again I'd never mounted a Buell before. In any case I'm flat footed while fully mounted....not the the case with the Africa Twins aforementioned above. hahah

Nice find! Welcome bro. Lots of friendly help on here, great advice, technically dead-on in my experience. TONS of mod ideas! Let the modding begin! "To mod is to live" - Plato
