I just ordered a eastwood powder coating and I super excited read a bunch of reviews and haven't seen any bad things about it.
Has anyone tried it ?
I'll get some pics up once i get it all set up and give my review. Ordered a bunch of colors and some glow in the dark additive mostly for my sled. ALso I saw some transparent blue that looks pretty close to hero blue but its a little pricey so ill wait to see how it works.

Yup, I do a little bit of my own, usually just small parts. I have a media blasting cabinet and use a oven my mother and father in law took out of their house cause they didn't like the color. ;)

Just did my headlight brackets for my S1W project.

PurPony does a lot of his own coatings. Look up his screen name and check out his work.

I do my own too. The key is prep. Must be clean, and it helps to preheat the part.
I get my powder from powderbythepound.com. A lot more choices and much better pricing than Eastwood.

Ive had the eastwood kit for probably 10 years or so... has worked well, but now its my backup gun. I have since moved up to a more professional gun.

I also got sick of being limited to a house oven so i built a oven a couple years ago. I wanted to go bigger but just dont have the room. Also have a spraybooth i built.

Like someone said before, its all in the prep. Take your time and parts come out great!!

Everything on my bike i powdercoated myself, wheels, frame, swingarm, tail, etc....

Its a hobby of mine that i enjoy doing. Mostly do it for myself and friends, with some small side jobs here and there.

I also order most of my powder from powderbuythepound, and sometimes columbiacoatings. Just got a box of powder last night :)

I got it all set up and damn its easy. JUst done little stuff other then the a arms on my sled. But how did you make that oven?? That would be awesome.

I framed it up housing metal studs from home depot....

then had a HVAC place bend me up all the sheet metal. Frame is pop riveted together and the sheetmetal is shelf taping screws. The walls are lined with rockwool insulation. Glass in the door is Ceramic. I have 2 heating elements (either 2000 or 3000 watts) each. Digital oven controller is by Teds Fabrication.

It heats up to 400 degrees in mins. I also have a circulating fan and light inside.

Have any of you guys messed up coating or had to remove old coating?? If so how do you get this stit off? I over cooked some rims and they didn't look good so I'm trying to get it off and having no luck. Also don't want to spend a couple hundred in pro striper to make 20 bucks.

i used to use aircraft stripper from the auto parts store. It worked ok but took a long time....

I ended up buying 30 or so gal of powdercoating stripper and never looked back. That stuff is unbelievable.... 5 mins of soaking and the powder just falls off in a sheet. It helps that my parents live in the same town the stuff is made so i never have to pay shipping.

I really like your homemade cooking booth i will built one instead of buying a infrared light. Your post really help me.[smirk][up]

Hey pur, what gun did you go with and would you recommend it? I'm getting way too much over spray with this Eastwood gun and I'm not happy with its penetrating. Also I'm lost with so many gun and to be honest I'm not sure what I'm looking at...
