Hey guys, I am kind of itching to just pull my frame off to get it powder coated, and I was just wondering for those that have done it, about how long does it take, and are there any pointers? I would like to make it a quick job with maybe a week downtime including the coating because I want to ride, so if anyone has some input, please share.

guys that have done it say not so bad, maybe theyll post and give you the shortcuts, i think the service manual is more complicated than need be

Yeah exactley, I have seen that there are unnecisary steps for alot of the stuff and if it's just a couple hour job that would be awesome.

I can tell you from personal experience, it's more then a couple hour job to do it right. Plan on killing a day.

It's not that it's an incredibly difficult process, just time consuming to do it correctly. Take pictures, label your bolts (sandwich bags are your friend), label electrical connections.

A couple things: I left the harness connected to the engine, I don't remember how they suggested doing it in the manual. When you pull the front end apart, leave the brake line connected. Leave the lines to the oil cooler connected, no need to remove the cooler.

When you go to put it back together make sure you have plenty of loctite, and keep your service manual close at hand.

Hey thanks for the reply buellusses. Depending if I get a powder coated lined out or not, I might just tackle it this weekend.

the only real issue ive ever heard of was fitting the electrical harness back in, but with that just take your time and label the connections like Buellysses said.
