How Long will you keep your Buell?

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

definitely keeping the Buell... Use my track bike as a street bike too, so I lessen the amount of miles on the Buell, but I love it too much to just let it sit and collect dust. Gotta ride it!

I bought my buell with the intention of having it as long as I possibly can. I hope that parts stay available long enough for my 20 year old ass to be able to ride the buell until I can no longer ride at all. :D

I would hope to keep Buells for the very long haul, much like anyone else keeps classic bikes. My plan, though, is to keep the tube-framed models as a priority, because they are more easily/economically repairable, over and over if necessary. I figure there are many more xb models around to pick up than older, tube-framed Buells.

For a long, long time. And as far as parts....a good machine shop can replicate anything!

......although, I have been eyeballing that new XR1200 with race upgrades.

Once I get the bank off the bike, its forever or until my pink sock falls out and I can't sit any longer, then I'll modify it so I am suspended over it. The bike not the pink sock.

I actually didn't know the term pink sock until a previous post about something else. I do think its humorous though.

Long Live Buell!

BR

Well my Triumph was the bike I was going to keep but a deer changed that so now my XB12R is the bike to keep...unless.....

Case #1
Replace gearbox & clutch with belt driven CVT & chain drive to rear wheel. GSXR forks, wheel & brakes, Wilburs shock.
Mods are cool and we roll on together.
Did I keep my Buell?
Case #2
At 83, I rebuild/sacrifice my XB as donor to a trike kit.
Trike's fun and we roll on together.
Did I keep my Buell?
In any case, I plan on keeping my mighty XB.

I'd like to say forever...but I have commitment issues. And I can provide a hundred female witnesses that would swear to that! :)

I will sadly say, until my next crash[smirk]

Or forever if the insurance keeps letting me buy my bikes back??? Still up in the air on my current bike[confused], so might only be a few days, but you can be sure I will have another within a few more days ontop of that[up]

My first street bike was a 1979 Honda 750F, Black with red pinstripes. Bought it new in 79, it was my sole transportation until 83 when I sold it to buy a truck. 1984 I bought a 78 Police Special HD FLH. I would still have it but I had tax problems in 95 and had to sell it. 1989 I bought a new FLHTC HD Dresser which I still own to this day. Jump to 2009... bought the 09 1125R and am loving it. Basically, because of this damn forum, I am now looking for a late model XB to add to the fleet.

In short, I will own my current bikes until I can't ride them anymore and then make sure someone in the family gets them that will appreciate them too.

Let's see I just got it in a trade and love the HELL out of this bike. I go with till hell freezes over or someone offers me 5 times what they sold for new!!!

Can see the add now.

XB12R rode hard $60,000.00 US

um I think until it rusts into oblivion, I die, shall I go on?

Or as the Great Randy Travis sings

Hard place to be, following Randy and all, But...Dont think I will ever part with the 12. Too unique, too cool. I feel as if i am intruding when I ride it...Like the coolest ride on earth is giving the biggest trailer park dork a ride. Its just that freaking cool. Actually, I hope to keep mine long enough to cross breed it with the inevitable hover-round.

I bought my 07 Lightning with 3000kms on it. I dont think I could ever sell it or trade it off for another bike, like I did with my CBR to get it. I got it for a great price $6500, money well spent. Something inside me feels like I have a piece of history, and is worth more to me for sentimental reasons. we all get the looks and the comments from sport bike & Harley owners. Having the Buell is UBER COOL, something everyone wants, but never went after. Having it feels like having the love of a good woman, and not something you just get rid of. LOL

While i love my Buell, i gotta say, i won't keep it forever. I'll sell it if i can. I never keep my toys that long. So i guess the answer is, I'll keep it till i sell it. :p

for the most part I plan on keeping it until I can no longer fix it when it breaks, but after having RT spank me a few times with his 1125R I am starting to consider trading it in on an 1125Cr

I cant get rid of my buell for anything less than another buell

does one buell for another still count as keeping it?
LOL
