Since I have had this bike (couple months) I have noticed upon start up will turn for a split second...pause then turn the rest of the way and start.

Recently I left it on and drained the battery. Charged it up with a trickle charger and now when I turn the key on the piston symbole comes one when its starting up. Then is goes off once started. I can remember if it did that before.

Is this normal.

Thats the bike trying to roll threw the compression stroke, all v-twins do that especially if your running a heavy summer oil and its cold.

Yes both lights will be on, the piston light is your oil pressure light and if the motor is not running you have no pressure, it takes a few piston strokes before the oil pump can get the system pressurized hence the light being on.

finally someone gets it and if one wants there starter and battery to last a long time...when it binds ..let of the started button then try again..you will see it fire right up without burning up the starter and draining the battery..does not mean theres something wrong its the nature of the beast

and a Beast it is.... :)

yeah... I thought for the longest time that I needed to replace the battery because of the same thing... then I heard others doing the same thing and figured it was just the way these coffee can pistons work. :)

as Maybebuell said.... the nature of the Beast.. :)

I had this happening up until the neg cable finally was loose enough that it wouldn't crank at all and everything seemed dead. Check your battery cables.
