I have been asked quite a few times on how to install the Cyclone 866f alarm on the buell's so I decided to make a how to.

Now this is on my 1125CR and the wires will be different colors and in different spots then on a xb. It is up to you to find the location and wire colors. Though i have the wire colors wrote down for my old xb, i think i might have two of the wire mixed up. Will have to have one of you guys who own an XB to confirm if the wire colors are right. Alittle tip to make it easier, if you can see the wires coming off of your ignition down to the connector you know what wires to look for in the book or what wires to test on your own. Same goes for the wires after the connector coming from your right hand controls (AKA kill switch).

Here are the supporting docs to the alarm and the second link is the install manual.

Read both, print if you want.

To begin. the pdf states where you need to attach the cyclone wires to the bike. Good tip is to look into the service manual in the back to the electrical schematics to see what wires are what colors. Example the schematic in the back of my book shows that from the IGN connector the on wire is the red/gray one.

You dont have to cut or find anything from the main wire harness, everything can be found up front by the kill switch and the ignition switch.

Lets get started.

Items needed-
Soldering iron
solder
(or just wire connectors and crimps if you want to be lazy)
Electrical tape
tools to remove any fairings that might be in the way.
wire cutters
patience and testing knowledge.

Time needed-
If you are testing it could be up to two hours. But who cares about the time, youre working on your baby!

Lets begin-
You will see you have to have three wires running up to the front of the bike plus your LED.
Find your wire harness that is already running up to the front and run your wires along side that.
Then zip tie or tape the alarm wires to the harness.
Make sure there is not binding or bunching of the wires.
Route your LED to a location that you will be happy with.

NOTE: You will only need to cut TWO wires on your bike!!!
Green and white wires on the cyclone will go to ONE of your cut wires.

The blue wire will be soldered to the other cut wire. Think of this connection as a "T".

Manually twist the wires together right now just like if you were about to solder them.
Then place the red and black leads to the battery
Test all aspects of the alarm.

If it works then go ahead and solder the wires together!
Place your heat shrink over your wire
Solder the wires
Heat the shrink

Neatly wrap wire excess or trim off the excess.
Put the bike back together.
And youre done!

The wires for the R/CR are as follows-
Bike color- cyclone wire color
Blk/red- green AND white
gry/red- Blue

The wires for the XB (my 2008) are as follows-
Bike color- cyclone wire color
yel/blk- green AND white
white- Blue

Again this is just mainly to help. You will need to test this on your own to make sure you have the right wires. Dont worry if you dont, just put some heat shrink over a wire, solder it up and then heat shrink it.
(heat shrink tubing can be bought at any hardware or even auto store)

If you need any help or have any questions feel free to ask and i will do my best to help you out. This alarm has been on two bikes of mine so far so I like it alot.
