After searching the forum and web, I am still unclear as to the proper way to remove a seat - yes, the damn SEAT. There is a lot of information on repairs that involve removing the seat as a first step, but none that I can find that explicitly explain the actual removal process. Would one of you folks be kind enough to offer some helpful advice? My goal here is to gain access to everything underneath the seat and air box cover for routine maintenance and inspection. The following photo is the seat in question.my motor bike.jpg

Looks like the tail of your bike is modified. It has a steeper angle than the stock configuration. I would imagine that seat is probably contorted and forced into position and it is harder to remove/install. You see that 2-3 inch spacer between your tail and the frame? That is the tail tidy, personally, not a fan....

Mine had the tidy tail installed when I bought it, and it is a little sticky to remove. Here are the steps I use:

1. Put key into the seat lock and turn.
2. Using both hands, grab both sides of the seat and using a slight downward pressure, give it a yank backwards. Sometimes I grab the strap that goes across the back of the seat.

Slide the seat BACK, not up (like you do on every other bike out there).

Turn the key, reach under around the seat with a hand on either side and slide it back. There is an L shaped hook you need to disengage by sliding the seat back.

Let me save you some headache, remove hooks from bottom of seat and all your seat removal probs will end . Mine has been that way since 07 and is a breeze on n off. No issues, been thru a few spills and has never came off
