the mechanic is saying that they are bended, and needed to be replaced, however the engine has only 5000miles
can anybody give a help? i am very disappointed ....I JUST bought it, with 2700miles,spent 800, dollars to customized it and know i may have to take the engine apart,is that a common problem what type of problems should be expected with this bike? is a 2005 XB9B LIGHTNING

I know, I am not to sure about the bent lifters too, however its rattling more now and last weekend it was very hot and i heard a new click on the head, is there any chance for lower oil pressure? because that is what it sound like .....when i changed the oil, i used the Mobil 1 fully Synthetic 4 cycle motorcycle 20W-50. I don't know it just doesn't sound wright...how good these engines are? what is the reliability on this engine? I rode it to Daytona from Fort Lauderdale and back doing 80 to 90 miles a hour, could that cause it?
Any way thanks for the readers of my problem

mobil1 has 2 bike oils mobil1 V TWIN it what you should have got?oil pressure gauge can be installed at the sending unit left of the oil filter

Mobile1 makes some good oil however there have been a few that have put it in their buell and claim to hear the lifters/valve train to be somewhat louder than when it had regular dino oil(like some HD oil)(some say the same thing for some HD's too), you may want to try a different FULL Synthetic oil like AMSOIL, Royal Purple's MaxCycle, Redline, Lucas,Motul,(and maybe even last resort only; try a non synthetic oil, but the full synthetic should do ) before doing any work on it to see if that helps with the noise.

I would add a little Lucas to it.
No running 80-90 won't hurt anything. I did it for 12 hours on my Xb 9 iron butting to NC.
Could be bent push rod my Xb is loud but so is the muffler.

is that a common problem

no, it's not a common problem. in most cases bent pushrods are a result of not bleeding the lifters as required when the engine had been opened. the parts swappers (some call them "mechanic") are incapable to read and there's no picture in the service manual describing how to bleed lifters. if the engine has not been opened, bent pushrods usually occur as a result of a big end crankshaft failure with the piston hitting a valve, a massive crankshaft bearing failure or a seized camshaft. each of these failures is easily audible and a bent (valve) pushrod would be your smallest concern then.

First, IS your bike back firing? OR is it possible a small timing adjustment?(WHO) is your mechanic?Did you have some work done and it did this later while riding? What was the Customized parts that was done? {Need a little more information}. Can you post a video of the bike running? The push rods are pretty strong on the Buells.Try to give (us) some more information so as to be able to figure out the area you need help with. The {OIL stabilizer} is a GOOD thing. YES THERE IS A WAY to install a OIL Pressure guage. You will need a few fittings and a oil guage to install where the sending unit goes.I put a 1/4inch,thread TEE in mine with a couple St. 45s and a straight fitting towards the front for the Braided line. The 45 will turn the sender down so it can be installed on one side just make it face slightly down towards the muffler then plug it back in.I use both the sender and a mechanical 1 1/2 guage with a braided line from Stewart Warner. I mounted mine up by the top of right side air scoop w/ a chrome open clamp around to hold the guage With a one hole mount .You were in Daytona,I looked up AND Millers Custom, And just call them tell them what you want.IT isn't cheap TO DO it Right. The Fittings for the add on I got most at Napa/AND I took my oil sender with me to make sure of the fit.DO not USE Teflon Tape. IT will melt.Use Blue Loctite .If you just want to check the pressure then put it back stock just pull out the sender and put the fitting in and just hold it while testing the bike.I don't like Idiot lites so I made mine to last both ways.Welcome to the Forum~Jimi

I'm getting ticking from my 210 XB9SX that has 20k miles and I'm wondering if the lifters are adjustable?

^lifters are hydraulic and not adjustable.

Some ticking/noise is common from these engines. Post a video and we can determine if it's normal.

I am of the opinion that it could be pushrods instead of lifters,as far as I know all of our bikes make this noise with the lifters,I had a honda nighthawk that made a whistle when the engine got hot on long rides and it was the lifters but it was also normal for that bike as with the buells loud ticking.

recently my buell xb9sx seems to be running a bit sluggish the mid range power above second gear seems to be lagging but once i hit around 4.5 to 5 thousand rpm the power kicks in. the low to mid range torque seems to have diminished a bit. any suggestions?

I just had an oil analysis done on my bike.

18 months and 1100 miles on Mobil 1 V-twin
(yes, 1100 miles makes me sad! Pretty sure I've done more miles on a bicycle in that time span before)

Anyhow, they found the oil to be in perfect condition and suggested I go 2 years between changes (at that low mileage mark, if I start riding more to obviously do it sooner)

Just am FYI on Mobil 1 (and WIX filter)

My bike has 24k on her, the lifter are LOUD! But she's still running good :)

Id try tn find out what the previous owner used. Some engines get used to a type of oil and act a little different when you change types.

[mad] Im confused ive done so much to my bike xb12r i hate to see her go do to the noise that is driving me crazy is all the talk on here real i had a xb9 xcity i sold it because of the same problem i just don't want the ticking to turn in to a lot more i can post a video if needed last time i asked for help on here got no reply what should i do please email me so i can explain more PLEASE [email protected]
