The most stable place I've found is the open area right above my headlight on my fairing. It was the most stable there. Other than that, the helmet is the best.

FYI, the "jello effect" is due to the frequency of the vibration in combination with the video frame rate (30 frames per second). I'm sure most of you knew this already.

They have a roll bar mount that you can mount to one of the fork tubes. There should also be a mount to be able to mount it right to the handlebars. Good call having a lanyard in case it flies off!
