by my Zero Gravity Double Bubble. It seems that when you park the bike facing to the west the following can happen

Dude, Holy Crap. I was trying to figure out how that happened to mine. I could not figure out where it came from. Thanks for the info. I wonder if they would flip the bill for a new gauge housing.

I sent them an e-mail today with the pics don't expect to hear from them anytime soon though.

Paul,

What is happening is called the Parabola effect. Here is a link to Wikipedia explaining it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parabola

It is not as common these days and has a lot to do with the grade of plastic OEM's use on their gauge clusters. The back of our windscreen packaging actually talks about this very issue. If you need anything else Paul, please let me know. Ride safe.

Subject: Double Bubble windscreen

Hello,
I have a 2007 Buell XB12R with a light smoke double bubble windscreen. I love it however, it has damaged my instrument cluster on two occasions pictures are attached. It seems to magnify the sun in such a way that it burns the cluster. When ever I park outside now I feel the need to carry a towel with me to put up under the windscreen to prevent this from happening again. I notice it only happens when the bike is parked facing directly west what time of day I am unsure of because I am not out there when it happens. I am not asking for anything I'm just informing you of the situation. I have heard of this happening to other Buell owners but this is the first it's happened to me personally. If I had to do it over I would still get the same product from you although I might have gone with the dark version. I look forward to hearing from you in response to this e-mail, let me say again I am NOT expecting nor am I asking for anything. This is just an informational e-mail.

Regards,

Paul

That sucks Paul. It wasnt facing the west at skeeters when your bike was getting a wash by a girl in a bikini was it? :D

sorry to hear...

although it is already mentioned on this forum, you can paint or darken the lower part of the screen to avoid this.
also avoid parking your nose to the sun.

What would happen if Buell made this kind of screen ? I don't know much about it but it's aftermarket isn't it.If it was genuine you would be hammering buell for a new cluster but seems to me you can market an inferior product and get away with it.

It's not really inferior. I consider the optic quality of ZeroGravity on par with my Oakleys.

It's such a perfect lens that when the sun comes in from the BACK of the bike, repeat, BACK of the bike, the lens is a great parabolic reflector. It's NOT like a magnifying glass with the light source above.

Several cures for this, I don't like any of them.
