the OD green is a bit thin/gone is some places, and i don't want them to rust thru ...

what color should i paint them?

Looking good Nilla!

I'd say flat black, Maybe wrinkle black, or even match the frame paint.

do a military theme on the rest of the bike, olive green plastic with that same type of writing the ammo cans have on them. that would be cool

if you had the camo uly bodywork, that would look awesome (it looks awesome anyways, great job.[up]

THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENTS, GUYS!!

i'd love to find a set of uly cammo plastics, but i know i'd not want to pay the $$$ for them.
the barricade orange is growing on me, and i'd like to not paint them.
graphite grey was my first thought, but at 20 bukks a can, i'd sooner go black. ... and once i go 'black' i'd never come back! LOL
i think the magnesuim tone would just be too much all over the boxes.

i think i'll look for a close match to the frame grey, and try to do some highlights on the diagonal bars in Testors ford mo. co. 'hugger orange'
... or maybe just embrace the obnoxious orange and do them up with black accents.:p

Vinyl wrap the plastics in camo. Its super cheap I had all my 4wheeler parts done for $50 in digicam its pretty durable then flat clear the boxes after you write 6x RPG on the sides:D

I meant what weight. I read somewhere that the 20mm cans are 20 pounds each - how does that affect handling and the mount when their all loaded?

I used 7.62 ammo cans on the stock Uly bag racks. Wanted something stronger then the stock bags in case of a crash.

Yep, about 20 lbs each. It is not noticeable to me any more. It didn't even feel like I had half a passenger, cuz even tho it is probably about 50 lbs of weight, it's all below the seat.

I used all the existing bolt locations under the tail. 8 in all iirc. Battery tray, seat latch, and undertail pan.

The boxes and aluminum frame are VERY TOUGH and have held up to more abuse than they should be subjected to. Including tucking the front twice, Both on the left side as my **** luck should have it.

Good to hear, I'm looking at doing the same thing but wasn't sure about the weight of the 20mm cans. I already have a rack (Hepco & Becker) on the bike and will either work out my own attachment method or spring for something like the premade attachment set sold by Happy Trails.
