im want to put a scg tail on my r.. not looking to trade because ill be 60 by the time that list gets to me. so ill order everything new but i need a list of everything i will need for this project with part numbers

+1 I would like this (again) also, reason for also, I spent 2 hours in a local HD dealer with the parts guy getting the whole list... put it in my jacket, GF washed my jacket. [mad]

I think I remember it being just short of 400.00, but that was not including all the screws and little fasteners. I figured I could make that part work.

I will try to get it all
Side rails
Cheese graiter
Seat cable lock and key set
Undertail
Brake res and hose optional makes it easier
Battery tray
Shock res mount
I may have missed something cause I just traded but thats all I can think of.
Hope I was of some help good look with parts

-Order used siderails and have them powder coated what ever color you want.
-Don't order the cheese grader just buy an aftermarket assembly.
-You can reuse your locking mechanism, and cable just have to loop it inside the t t tray and you will ever even notice it.

Dont' forget all of the hardware required. best bet is to find a manual for your year bike and all the parts will be in it.

Most important thing is a seat and you can get a new one on ebay for about $100.

Good Luck, I did the same thing. I like how it turned out.

got a set of stock rails im buying friday! everything else ill slowly get but surely will put together

Yes the seat height is slightly lower. It's less agressive but more comfortable for longer rides.

I would just buy a new under tray from HD. Most hardware that you will need can be used from the bolt tail. You are gonna need the below.
Battery tray
Shock resrvoir mount
Latch for seat
Use prexisting lock and cable.
Under tray from HD
Rear center section. I bought aftermarket.
Lightning brake reservoir

Get ahold of a service manual for year bike and it shows lightning and firebolt

Someone on badweb was trying to sell a Lightning tail on here for around $200 a few days ago.

Don't reuse the cable. The lightening one is significantly shorter.

side rails
tail light housing
battery pan
Battery trey
Lock mechanism and cable
Shock res mount
battery tie down
Rear brake res and hose... I think that's it.
oh and the seat!

I actually bought a complete tail from Buellsterparts.com and then had the side rails powder coated.

The battery tie down should be the same as your firefbolt as well as the lock itself, just get a new cable if you want. Look at the picture I posted earlier and you can see how it loops under the battery tray. It works with no problems. Personally no one can see it so I am not worried about it.

Let me know if you have any other questions. It was a quick and easy swap. Just remember when you go to mount the tail section leave everything loose so it will slide onto the frame easily and the tighten up.
