I polished out my headers with 1000 grit going up to 2000 grit sand papers.. didn't take long either. Its looks amazing. If any of you guys have crappy looking headers I would recommend doing this, you will love the results. It makes the XB look a lot more "upscale"..

I gold plated my entire bike then bedazzled it with actual diamonds but since I didn't post any pics I guess you'll all have to take my word for it.
:D

I was at a local bike night here, known as "2 wheeled Tuesdays" and a wide assortment of people show up usually,
bikes are all over the map, supposed to be mostly vintage, but some interesting stuff shows up,
So this guy shows up on some sort of Asian V Twin cruiser bike..Apparently it was looking a bit drab, and wasnt happy with quotes for painting it. Being the artistic type,,,,,, he covered the whole thing with US coins, The contrasts between the Copperish Pennies against the quarters, nickels and dimes was quite nice,, layed them out very nicely, kind of a 2 tone thing with the silver coins in a rally stripe up the fenders with pennies on the sides, then scallops on the tank. We asked about the glues,, he used titebond 550? or something like that in a caulk tube to put them on, then covered it with some sort of 2 part clear epoxy that you can spray on, so it was protected from fuel and other issues.
Sometimes some come loose, and require reglue, but it looked really cool. Of course we al made jokes about toll bridges and drivethru fast food joints. He did say when parked downtown Portland, you would think homeless people would steal the coins off it but surprisingly that doesnt happen. He told us they are his biggest fans and they approach and tell him how cool it is.
Sorry. no pix, maybe i can get someone to email ones they took, I didnt have a camera.

That was maybe only 30 min of work.. Ill keep working on them but they look pretty good already. The light wasn't good over here right now so they don't show up as well as they do to the naked eye.

Nice! I did mine last year. Used Scotch bright pads with some penetrating spray. I left the blue at the tops and it fades into a gold-ish color. I was just happy to get the crap off of them. Turned out better than I planned.

That looks VERY clean !! ... I like it [up][up][up]

Tried polishing mine for quite a while ... But it seems like my headers were just way too far gone, so I wrapped them and now i'm saving up for a newer set of headers so I can polish them and slap em on ... I really like the look of wrapped headers but they degrade much faster than normal headers while they're wrapped over time ... so looks like it's eventually gonna get a set of polished headers one way or another ...

That looks more like a mirror than an exhaust header .... I call photoshit ... hahaha

Nope...Just some patience, green Scotchbrite & WD40 then some Wicked Metal Polish. Takes only about 30-45 minutes total. First time may take a few minutes longer but it's surprising how quickly it works. They stay pretty clean too. I touch them up each year before riding season.

Dean...Would you call that the "custom polished hand job" option? :D:D:D

Hey Negative, you gotta use sandpaper sometimes.. maybe even 400 grit to kick to the process off.. then go finer and finer down to 2500.. they got assorted packs at autozone for like 5 bucks
