Just spray WD onto the green Scotchbrite pads and scuff away...That's it! Then some metal polish if you so chose after.
 
The polished look is pretty sweet. Nice job to those of you that took the time. Living in Texas I want to divert as much heat away from me as possible so I wrapped mine. I'm going to do a 2nd layer here soon and see if that makes any difference.
 
Annoyance, I wonder how much weight that added to his bike. That had to be heavy as ****.
 
Mine were pretty messed up. I used the aforementioned WD40 and green scotchbrite pads and it worked pretty well and its dirt cheap. I'll be polishing with some Megiuars metal finish too.
 
With the Scotchbrite method it seems I need to touch mine up ever few months. Riding in the rain seems to make the tops of the headers go blue more quickly. Polished headers sure do look snazzy though [up]
