So I currently ride a 12r firebolt and am really interested in getting a uly to further my Buell addiction. I just so happened to stumble on the perfect firebolt (for me) when I was introduced to buells but don't think I'll be so lucky the second time. That being said I would to do my research and what better place to come than the guys who ride them. Is there a specific year that's better than others or anything in that nature? Is there anything specific to ulys I should be looking for when buying? I want to be able to tour and maybe even some forest roads for camping.

Hey Bam, i'm no expert but Ulysses are same thing with the other Buells, the newer the better. 10's have the three bearing wheels which can fit on any previous Ulys. Great if you're planning on off-roading a lot. 09's + have the heats grips which are A-ma-zazing! if you've never rode with them before. Things to look for, cracked ECMs are notorious in these bikes. Check for the spacer blocks or that its been repositioned. Horns rattle under the flyscreen if not repositioned or bent back. Not a big issue tho. Same old electrical gremlins as all the other Buells. Chaffed wires under the flyscreen and the neck harness hold down. There are plenty of damn nice 06's that are sorted out and ready to go. Just make sure they run and ride right and then go and ride the piss out of it! Enjoy

2006, fully farkled, low miles, mint condition. Considering trading for similar fire lot or other XB model. Located in northeast Pa.

How many miles? How much? What mods have been done? I'm located in Las Vegas, NV. The only other bike I have for trade is a mint cond. 2008 Kawasaki KLR650 with 15,525 on it. It's has a bunch of mods as well. I really wish you were closer, I bet It would be costly to ship and a little far to fly out and ride back.

When I was looking for my bike, I decided to go with a 2008 or newer due to the changes at that year, different oil pumps, larger bearings, etc. I ended up with an 08 XB12XT. Probably not the Uly you're looking for, but its less known touring version brother. As someone said above, later is better. The XT already had the heated handgrips, but I'd love a '10 with double oxygen sensors.

On a side note, it's no good on mud. Got a broken foot to prove that.

If you end up finding an XT for a good price and want the taller suspension, let me know. I'll happily trade. I'm a short guy and the X is a bit much for me. I'm local and we can knock it out in a couple hours.

That's sounds great man just let me know when you guys meet and I'll ride down also. The suspension thing would be perfect, I'm on the look out for nice uly but would like to sell my KLR first. I'm trying to be patient but I really want a uly for those long rides and camping so I would need the taller suspension.
And wired, I'll keep that in mind when it comes to mud. Just out of curiosity, what tires did you have on it?

No problem. It'll be great to see you out there. Like I said, keep me in mind if you do find a deal on an XT. I'm more than happy to swap parts to make it a long travel suspension X and get it so I can reach a little better.

My forks are currently being rebuilt right now. Completely new seals and internals.
