So my front brakes are pulsating when braking and my backs slow smooth as silk. Can the front rotors be turned. It seems as though everyone is charging up the can for the front rotor. Could the pads be causing any of this. I just broke 7k. I wouldnt think I would need a new rotor already.

seems I read not to long ago that sometimes there is a residue build up if you don't break aggressively enough to keep the rotor clean. The person said that after several fast breaking runs the problem was gone

Yo i need help with the same thing i get vib from mine and idk if the squeek is from the front or back...just did 5k servouse iam at 5.7k ish now

DID NOT BUY MINE NEW its a used 03 9s ive only put about 500miles on it

if the front feels like its pulsating, kind of like its grabbing tight then letting go and so on causing the entire front to shake, you need a new front rotor and pads. To keep this from happening again, don't ride the front brakes, when you ride the front brakes or get them too hot the large rotor is easy to warp.

I had the same thing on my XB12r for the past week. The front tire was pretty worn and low on pressure. I put new tires on today and it went away.

So check your pressure and also check your tread and tire in general.

I think its some weird harmonic vibration, mine only does it once in a couple hundred applications.

reliner did you feel it everytime or most everytime you use the brake or just once in a great while?

I had that problem and it was the rotor, changed the pads because they would have bene messed up from the rotor. It happens everytime you brake if its a rotor

I have same thing with my xb9r ,started when I hit 3000 miles,am going to try cleaning rotor up and new pads.

Rotor is very easy, and there reallt isn't a cheap way or place to get one. I bought mine directly from my Harley Dealer and it was about $160

Mine was acting just like that....a bad pulsing vibration coming to a stop. I'd have sworn it was a warped rotor. I cleaned the rotor with brakleen and a scotchbrite pad, installed more agressive pads (EBC HH), and it hasn't vibrated since.

Supposedly with the stock pads you should avoid sitting at a stop light with the front brake on, as a small amount of pad material is deposited on the hot rotor.

I was under the impression that the rotor was a "floating" rotor. if the mounts go bad, you get a pulsation or shaking feeling. A good friend of mine had a buell for 6 years and told me that when i very first got mine. this might be worth looking into rather than a rotor.

I know the tuber brakes are "floating" rotors but i did not think xb brakes were as they mount directly to the wheel.

They are mounted directly to the whell, but there is space between the two and there are springs at each mounting point pushing the rotor out.

Front rotor was warped on myXb12Ss at 7k also I had it replaced no more surging while braking. If you barley apply brake when riding and the front surges its warped!
