So my stable is growing, I have my Xb12S, I'm adding an M109R for my commutes, and I'm looking into a track bike. I've narrowed it down to a GGSXR750 05-11, or a Daytona 675. Any one have advice or experience on either of these bikes? From what I can tell the daytona has a ton of adjust-ability with ohlins all over, but the GSXR has more go-fast. This bike will not see the streets.

SV650 is a bit of an underdog and will cost less to operate on a track. You wont get the lap times but you will get experience.

looking for lap times. I've rode an SV1000 neat bikes but not interested. It's either going to be the 750 or the 675.

That's my big concern on the 675 is how difficult is it to replace parts and find someone who can actually work on it.

Definitely the gsxr. Triumphs are great, I had one and had a blast on it, but if you're looking for nothing more than a great track bike, that's exactly what the gsxr was for. I'd consider a 675 over it if it was going to get street time, but you won't get much use out of that triple's midrange on the track. You're a tall guy too, aren't you? those 675s are pretty tiny.

edit: you currently have an xb12s, I guess I should retract the tiny bike comment, haha, anything is gonna be bigger than the buell.

Lol yea, I am 5'11", 6' with my boots on. I've been leaning towards the gsxr, but the triumphs mid range was keeping it in the running. But yea, I'm a service member and they really keep a tight leash on us riders. i got pulled over but luckily let go with some buddys about 6-7 months ago fleeing the police and clocked over 140 (at least one of the 4 of us was, that wasn't my individual speed. just to squash any silly top speed arguments). we got let go with like 600 dollar tickets (which would be about what i could of spent on like 2 track days?). After thinking long and hard about it I think I need to be more responsible and try to limit my hard riding to the tracks, it's safer for the public, safer for me, and safer for my family cuz SGLI won't pay out if I die being a *******. There are some tracks in texas that i can get to withing a few hours, and supposedly that one in austin will be done by the time i get back there. my xb12s Dorothy is getting a big motor build and honestly will be more show and straight line go than it's current curve carver status. (88-90ci, turbo, 200 rear, SS swing, and scg suspension).

off subject.. Nuage did you ever buy a SS swingarm? If so, how are you going to adapt the shock length difference on the SS swing arm?

definetly shop the wera classfieds there is great deals on both.
I really like the look and feel of the 675.
gixxer parts are more plentifull

@anrkizm95, me, myself, and my friend :0) I also have the ear of Eric Z on buelletinboard if i come across any hang ups or need help along the way. I'm totally noob to this stuff. the will be my first ever bike/car engine project ever. I've been doing my homework and reading everything I can on the subject. My friend however grew up building hotrods, drag cars and bikes somewhere around 30 years of doing so. This stuff will probably be boring for him. But I'm willing and able to learn and can't wait to dig in. And I feel the simplicity of the buells make it a better candidate than an I4 to learn on.

@Bossanova, I have not yet purchased an SS swing arm. Still in the hunt two got away from me on ebay, just wasn't willing to pay what the bid went up to. I have plenty of time on my side. And now that I will have multiple steeds in the stable I won't have to worry about rushing the project so I have wheels. Keeping my eyes open, found a guy local who buys harleys and buells from insurance companies and parts them out. I'll find one eventually. As far as the shock mounting, I'll just have to see. plenty of welders and custom shops around. I'll probably be mad at myself for crippling the performance in the turns, but oh well. worse case scenario I have a street/strip custom.

@RT thanks for the heads up [up]
