Hey everybody, on my instrument gauge the light that is to the far left is out. it covers the 0-60 portion of the speedo. How do I fix this?

lol mine is out to same bulb/place you need to buy a bulb from the dealer it's like $4.25 but when I went to get one they said no dealer in the USA had one in stock so had to order one you can't just go get one from autozone either. Download the servicemanual from up top the page here and it should tell you how to change it.

thanks boss, is there a code for this bulb? Or should I just ask for a instrument bulb?

ya just go ask for a bulb for your instrument panel I'm sure they are all the same

There are actually two different types of original bulbs for the instruments -
Y0162.02A8 - BULB, instrument cluster, backlight.
Y0163.02A8 - BULB, instrument cluster, warning lights

I imagine the warning lights are slightly brighter - the only obvious difference looking at them is that the glass bead section is slightly bigger on one.

On my Uly I had the background lights all fail within a relatively short time at around 80,000km and there were none the country (Australia) at any any dealer.

I found some locally available replacement globes that could be fitted to the Buell plastic bases with a little work.

I also ordered the Genuine Buell part - this is the warning light and the replacement packet of 12V 60mA bulbs I got from Radio Spares. The replacements were about AUD$1.80 each so very cheap.

Now having said all that you can also get very similar bulbs in different colours from your Range Rover dealer - this photo shows a green one sitting beside the Buell item. A friend has a Range Rover and produced this when I told him about the trouble I had sourcing the Buell parts. He also had orange bulbs for the Range Rover but I don't know what they cost.

For those of you in the US American Sport Bike supplies LED replacements for these bulbs as another option.

i got some from autolumnation.com blue ones to be exact. they work real good, easy to replace. $1.49ea. got 4 for under $10.00 shipped (you only need 3, got 1 as a spare). these are not led, but incandesant bulbs so there are no bright spots affiliated with the leds. the blue looks real nice with my new gauge face.

1. Remove the instrument cluster.
2. Turn instrument cluster upside down and remove the screws holding the two halves together.
3. Locate the bulb concerned and remove with small screwdriver - they are locked in place with a half turn.
4. Replace bulb.
5. Reassemble.

Now having said that I would highly recommend you download one of the manuals on the site as mentioned earlier and read the detailed instructions as what I have listed is pretty high level.

Also, given you are chasing the neutral light you need to make sure the switch is actually working as they have something of a reputation for failure. To test the dash light for the neutral switch you can remove the neutral switch connector and connect this via a lead to the engine cases somewhere (with the ignition on of course) and the neutral light should light.

okay yeah i will do that. my friend said the bulb was soddered in. i had the whole thing unassembled and all. can i pick up a bulb at a autozone or pepboys?

I just came back from my Sunday morning ride (XT) and realised I didn't give you enough info - if the neutral switch is working you will be able to start the bike (regardless of whether the light is working). If you have to pull the clutch even when in neutral then the switch is probably crook.

The only warning light that isn't a plug-in bulb is the low-fuel indicator.
